For generations, the Sith adhered to the Rule of Two—master and apprentice, no more, no less. But Palpatine was never content to follow a tradition he considered obsolete. While Darth Bane’s doctrine was designed to ensure the Sith’s survival through secrecy and patience, Palpatine envisioned something far more audacious: total, permanent domination of the galaxy—and of the dark side itself.

Many believe Palpatine’s countless schemes and hidden apprentices were simply a symptom of his paranoia. Yet there is a deeper possibility: that he saw the Rule of Two as a limitation, a relic of weaker Sith who feared betrayal more than they craved power. By training Inquisitors, manipulating Maul and Dooku, and even preparing replacements for Vader, Palpatine revealed his true philosophy—one that placed his own ascension above any ancient code.

In rejecting Bane’s legacy, he did more than break tradition. He betrayed the very foundation of the Sith Order, setting in motion events that would ultimately destroy them. In the end, Palpatine’s arrogance ensured that no Sith would ever rise to challenge him—and no Sith would remain to inherit his throne.

Count Dooku’s decision to delete Dagobah from the Jedi Archives has long been a mystery—but some believe it was not done for the Sith, but rather against them. While many assume the deletion was simply part of Dooku’s broader efforts to cover Separatist activity, there is a more personal and strategic possibility: that Dooku, even as Darth Tyranus, was already contemplating Sidious’ betrayal. Deleting Dagobah—a planet strong in the dark side, yet completely wild and untraceable—may have been a quiet failsafe. A hidden world Dooku could one day vanish to if he ever needed to escape the Sith Master he could no longer trust.

Dagobah’s unique dark side nexus, unshaped by Sith rituals or Jedi interference, represented the raw, untamed Force—an ideal place to hide from all sensors, even from Sidious himself. In this reading, Dooku’s erasure of Dagobah wasn’t just a cover-up… it was a contingency plan.
