Rick and Ron host Internationally renowned jazz drummer, percussionist, clinician, author, and educator, Steve Houghton to the podcast. Steve initially received acclaim at age twenty as the drummer with Woody Herman’s Young Thundering Herd.
Since then he has shared stage and studio with luminaries Freddie Hubbard, Rufus Reid, Gary Burton, Dave Stryker, Clay Jenkins, Shelly Berg, Jared Gold, Lyle Mays, Bob Sheppard, Billy Childs, Bobby Hutcherson, Pat LaBarbara, Bobby Shew, Geoff Keezer, Bob Bowman, Walter Smith III , Wayne Bergeron, Bill Cunliffe, Arturo Sandoval, Steve Allee, Joe Henderson, Ray Brown, Eddie Henderson, among others.
Steve retired in 2022 as Professor of Percussion and Jazz at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. He continues to presents clinics and master classes to students around the world, most recently in Germany, England, China, New Zealand, Australia and Taiwan. Houghton is a Past- President of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) a founding member of the Jazz Education Network (JEN) and endorses, Yamaha drums and percussion, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and mallets, and Remo world percussion products and drumheads.

Rick and Ron visit again with Ray "Quasi" Nelson, artist entrepreneur, drummer, and founder of the Synergy Percussion Camp. which serves as a bridge builder for young musicians and influential artist in the music industry.
After receiving his B.A. in Jazz Studies with a minor in Music Industry from Florida A&M University, Quasi moved to California to pursue a career in music and entertainment. Shortly after, he began touring and recording with The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra becoming one of the youngest members to hold the drummers chair. In 2017, Quasi began touring with Grammy nominated recording artist, Kehlani, co-produced a mulit- platinum recording single and filmed his television acting debut on BET’s The Quad.
Quasi currently plays for several artist across the music industry including Sabrina Claudio, The Shadowboxers and Stanaj.

Duane is well known in vocal jazz, musical theater and opera communities as a master educator, director, and conductor. The family moved to Cleveland when Davis was a toddler, where his earliest recollections were of music in the home. Although they could not afford instruments, the children were exposed to multiple musical genres.
Davis honed his appreciation for all styles, singing in school choirs and as a high school student also sang with the Cleveland Orchestra.
Inspired by a highly motivating music teacher, Davis pursued a career in music education and has been teaching for more than 50 years.
