  • Ep 130. Ajit George on Shanti Bhavan: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

Ajit George is the Director of Operations at Shanti Bhavan's Children's Project.

Shanti Bhavan brings children from generational poverty to a life of dignity and achievement.

Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty for India’s "lowest caste", also known as the untouchables in India, by providing impoverished children with a world-class education, from pre-kindergarten through college, and into their working careers.

I discovered Ajit through Shanti Bhavan's Netflix Series, Daughters of Destiny.

  • Ep 128. Chris Voss and Tara Cardinal: Help Women Become Better Negotiators

Show notes, tools and resources: https://www.feisworld.com/blog/chris-voss-tara-cardinal?rq=tara

Chris Voss appeared on an earlier episode of Feisworld Podcast just about a year ago. Since then, the episode quickly surfaced to one of the most popular episodes we have produced.

Prior to starting the Black Swan Group, Chris was an FBI agent and specialized in International Hostage Negotiation. Since the release of his book, Never Split the Difference, Chris has traveled in the United States and around the world as a keynote speaker to pass on his superpower.

What's Chris' Superpower? He and the Black Swan Group help people solve business negotiation problems with strategic hostage negotiation solutions. They also coach rising stars and fix deals gone bad.

Speaking of coaching, we welcomed one of his students too, Tara Cardinal, to join us on the show. Together, we explored Chris' coaching methodology and process, and we break it down so that you get to look inside the situation Tara was dealing with, and how Chris coached her to navigate the muddy water.

Between 9/22-10/19. 2017 at the New Art Center in Newton, MA, Wen-Hao is showcasing a new collection called Weed Out.

I had the pleasure to visit her studio in Cambridge, where she transferred these wild weeds from random locations into a home garden. Along the way, she took pictures of these plants before they found their new home, and pictures of herself and people she encountered.

“This installation contemplates the idea of wantedness and unwantedness, control and letting go, alienation and belonging, as well as the wholeness of our society.”

  • Ep 123. Eric Langlois: Raising a New Generation of Circus Artists

Eric Langlois is the Executive Director at the National Circus School in Montreal, Quebec.

The National Circus School (NCS) is a school for higher education in the arts and offers curriculum in music, dance and theatre.  NCS also offers academic subjects at the secondary and college levels.

Eric told us that NCS is training more entrepreneurs, not just artists. Students who graduate from the NCS need to perform a final act, created on their own, in front of a public audience. Eric believes that as an educator, he needs to help facilitate artistic talents and innovation. It's an iterative process. NCS constantly reflects on how they can better support the students, and further develop the right attitude and the ability for students to see.

  • Ep 122. Jennifer Dziura: The Fearless Woman behind GetBullish.com

Today on the show, we have a fearless woman name Jennifer Dziura, who is the founder of GetBullish.com and the annual Bullish Conference. When I Google "bullish girl" just to make sure that it doesn't sound offensive, Jen's website, GetBullish.com ranked #2 (Good job Jen!), and number one is Wall Street Crowds Bullish on "Fearless Girl" Statue.

"Bullish is feminism- and justice-minded work talk from someone who believes in examining our relationship to corporations."

Here are some of Jennifer's beliefs and a cheatsheet to our conversation:

    • You can make money and influence the world without being a jerk.
    • Starting businesses on zero dollars
    • Selling expensive things to rich people, and doing real things in the world rather than trying to “manifest your dreams.”
    • Helping other women
