We learn from Jesus' latest argument with the Pharisees, discussing his disciples' unbelief, and healing a blind man, that physical blindness is't the worst kind of blindness someone can have in this world. Spiritual blindness is. Because of our corrupt human nature we are all born spiritually blind and unreceptive to Jesus and His Word – even when his greatness is displayed right in front of us. Preached by Pastor Devon. We're finishing our series in 1 Timothy by looking at 1 Timothy 6:17-21. In this final section of the letter, Paul warns us of the dangers that the wealthy face in this world. We're also given directions that lead to true riches. Paul concludes by telling Timothy and us about the deposit that we have to guard and treasure. As you’re sent out with God’s grace, glory in the Christian faith. Give generously as someone who has been made rich in Christ’s fullness. And guard the good deposit entrusted to you. Preached March 29, PM

Preached by Pastor Devon on Mark 7:31-37. Jesus shows us as he heals a deaf, mute man, that he isn’t just like one of us, people trying to make the best of things in a fallen world. Jesus is the one who can actually set things right. Preached March 22, AM

Pastor Josh preaches on 1 Timothy 6:11-16. It is easier to say no to something when you know what the yes is. This is true about life’s big decisions and it’s also true in the Christian life. When we’re tempted to discontentment and love of the world, we need to know what the better thing is that we are saying yes to. Paul shows us that as Christians we have better pursuits, namely cultivating the character of Christ in ourselves. We also have better motivations for the difficult and long-term trials of the Christian life, found in Christ’s confession in the midst of suffering and his coming again. As we long for our the day when we see Christ, we also are drawn to think of the best thing we have: our God, who is blessed, sovereign, singular, and inaccessible (but made accessible through Christ). We are looking forward to him, and finding in him our satisfaction in the midst of our trials. Preached March 22 PM

Preached by Pastor Devon from Mark 7:24-30. Often we can feel like outsiders, like we don't actually belong to whatever group we find ourselves in. We even feel that way in the church. But when Jesus speaks to a gentile woman who begs him to heal her daughter, we're reminded that even though we don't deserve to belong to God's people, God's grace is abundant, and he gives us a spot at his table, as his children, even though at best we only deserve his crumbs. Preached by Pastor Devon from 1 Timothy 6:2b-10. We need to understand what the right passions and priorities should be for Christians. And Paul in this passage reminds us what the core teaching of the Christian life are in verse 3. Then, he identifies the cravings that promote ungodliness in verses 4 and 5. He then reflects on the contentment that accompanies godliness in verses 6 through 8. And finally, he has us consider the consequences of ungodly desires in verses 9 and 10. Preached by Pastor Devon on Mark 7:1-23. Like a renovated house standing on rotting supports, we can be concerned with being "clean" before God, while prioritizing outward cleanness - the things we do or say (or don't do or say). But being clean, rather than just appearing clean, is a matter of the heart. We see Jesus first addresses the standards of false cleanness that are being advocated by the Pharisees, like adherence to man-made traditions instead of the word of God. And then, second, Jesus clarifies that our hearts are the true source of defilement. And the only hope for cleansing us of our uncleanness is for dirty sinners to come to Christ by faith. In this passage we’re reminded that Jesus, being the Son of God, was still a human being who depended on God for his strength, and spent time in prayer because he needed God. If Jesus needed to pray to God, how much more do we? But we also learn as Jesus calms the sea that Jesus is divine. He is the God who tramples on the seas and the same God who lead his people through the Red Sea by the hands of Moses. And he brings deliverance to everyone who calls on him. He doesn’t calm all the storms in your life and make life easy, but when you trust in him, the greatest storm has been calmed, as you have your sins forgiven and find peace with God.
