  • The People Who Shape Us - Part 2: Regret-Free Romance

    Speaker: Brent Cummings //

    Scripture: Ephesians 4:25; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 //

Few things in our lives as young adults are as complicated, anxiety-inducing, fun, terrifying, and exciting as dating. It's a season of high highs and low lows, and unfortunately oftentimes, filled with regrets. But it doesn't have to be. God's hope for you is that you would know His design for how to date well, have a successful marriage, and have regret-free romance.

So this week, we're continuing our series called, “The People Who Shape Us,” looking at the 3 types of relationships that are the closest to us and have the most influence on our lives: our friends, our potential future spouses, and our families. In a lot of ways, you are the way you are because you have been shaped by these relationships. And God ultimately has placed them in your life to make you into the man or woman He has always designed you to be. This week, we're talking about what the Bible says about dating and how to have regret-free romance.

We hope you’re encouraged by this message! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Check out our Instagram @fellowshipya, website www.fellowshipar.com/young-adults, or send us at email at [email protected].”

  • The People Who Shape Us - Part 1: Friendship

    Speaker: Brent Cummings //

    Scripture: John 15:12-17 //

Do you ever feel lonely? Are you satisfied with the state of your friendships? Do you have people around you who really know your heart, and that you can be your true self around? In our culture today, these types of friendships are becoming increasingly rare, and feelings of loneliness and friendlessness are on the rise. But, God has created us to have deep, meaningful, life-giving friendships. Sometimes, we just need a little help knowing how to go about it.

So this week, we're starting a new series here in YA called, “The People Who Shape Us,” looking at the 3 types of relationships that are the closest to us and have the most influence on our lives: our friends, our potential future spouses, and our families. In a lot of ways, you are the way you are because you have been shaped by these relationships. And God ultimately has placed them in your life to make you into the man or woman He has always designed you to be. This week, we're talking about what the Bible says about friendship, looking at the perfect example of Jesus and His friends, the 12 Disciples.

  • Winning the War on Worry: The Life of Gideon - Part 3

    Speaker: Brent Cummings //

    Scriptures: Judges 7 //

Gideon was one of the most relatable people you’ll ever read about in the Bible. Like so many young adults today, he struggled over and over again with fear, anxiety, and worry. But as we’ll see in this series, God can take even someone like Gideon, overcome his anxiety and fear, and use him to win an incredible victory. And if Gideon can “win the war on worry”, maybe God can do that in us as well.

So this week, we’re wrapping up our series by coming to the climactic event in Gideon’s life. This is what everything has been leading up to. And the question Gideon will have to face - like so many of us as well - is this: Can God really be trusted? Is the anxiety that comes from a lack of faith in God going to cause the death of Gideon? Or, will God come through for him? Will Gideon win the war on worry, or not?

We hope you’re encouraged by this message! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Check out our Instagram @fellowshipya, website www.fellowshipar.com/young-adults, or send us at email at [email protected].”

  • Winning the War on Worry: The Life of Gideon - Part 2

    Speaker: Brent Cummings //

    Scriptures: Judges 6:25-40 //

Gideon was one of the most relatable people you’ll ever read about in the Bible. Like so many young adults today, he struggled over and over again with fear, anxiety, and worry. But as we’ll see in this series, God can take even someone like Gideon, overcome his anxiety and fear, and use him to win an incredible victory. And if Gideon can “win the war on worry”, maybe God can do that in us as well.

So this week, we’re continuing our series looking at Gideon’s life and example by learning: 1) Our worry will lead us to worship, and 2) God is as patient as He is powerful. In this passage, we’ll look at how God wants to grow our faith by tearing down the idols in our lives. And, we’ll talk about a very practical way to make big decisions (which is a source of so much of our anxiety).

We hope you’re encouraged by this message! If you have questions about our church or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to hear from you! Check out our Instagram @fellowshipya, website www.fellowshipar.com/young-adults, or send us at email at [email protected].”

So this week, we’re launching our series by taking a look at where Gideon’s story and example begins: not when he’s at his best, but when he’s at his worst - in the midst of his worry and anxiety. But in this passage, we’ll see that it’s right there that God wants to meet us and bring us peace.
