But what if instead of hearing from someone else, we went right to the source, and heard from Jesus himself about who he was and what he was all about?

This week, we're wrapping up our series called, "I AM: Jesus in His Own Words", looking at the 7 "I AM" statements of Jesus in the Gospel of John. This is Jesus himself, using 7 word pictures to describe who he was and what he came to do. He is "introducing" himself to us in his own words, and at the same time, claiming to be God in the flesh. This week, we take a look at the last "I AM" statement, when Jesus uses the metaphor of a vine, branches, and fruit to teach us about what living in relationship with him looks like. As a branch draws nutrients and life from the vine and produces fruit, so we are to stay connected to Jesus and bear spiritual fruit that matters for eternity.

When Jesus proclaims, “I Am the Resurrection and the Life,” the glory of God is on full display. Jesus is the source of resurrection and the source of life. In this message, we walked through John 11, watching Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead, proving He has power to bring someone from death to life. Similarly, because Jesus is the resurrection and the life, you and I can be resurrected from our spiritual death and be brought to a new life in Jesus.

This week, we're looking at the what might be the most tender and heart-felt of those 7 statements, when Jesus said he is "the Good Shepherd". The Bible says that we are like sheep, and Jesus is our shepherd who knows us, leads us, and calls us to follow him out to new pastures.

This week, we're looking at the first of those 7 statements, when Jesus said he is "the bread of life". After performing the miracle of feeding around 15,000 people with a small lunch, he turns to the crowd and declares that true satisfaction for the hunger of our soul is only found in him.

Out of all the relationships in our lives, none have as much influence on us as our family. For good or for bad, our families of origin are tremendously powerful and formative to us as people.

So this week, we're finishing up our series called, “The People Who Shape Us,” looking at the 3 types of relationships that are the closest to us and have the most influence on our lives: our friends, our potential future spouses, and our families. In a lot of ways, you are the way you are because you have been shaped by these relationships. And God ultimately has placed them in your life to make you into the man or woman He has always designed you to be. This week, we’re looking at 3 of the main things the Bible teaches us about family: 1) What God’s design is for the ideal family, 2) How to deal with the fact that our families are not always ideal, 3) How to heal from any family hurt or wounds and move forward as a part of a new, spiritual family.
