Abby’s Story
Abby worked for a small business in 2016 just after losing her angel baby, Easton. Her older kids were in school, and she had some extra time. Her friend asked her to help with her small business, and asked her to help with trade shows. While she originally started as a bookkeeper, she quickly took on a lot of responsibilities at the company, and worked in a lot of different roles. Her main focus became marketing where she worked with influencers, email automation, website, and social media management. Abby quickly learned, and excelled in marketing. During her time at that company, she had another baby, and continued working part-time. As the company grew, the company needed a full-time marketing manager. She decided to stay home. She quickly realized that she missed working. She decided to start helping small businesses with their marketing. She now runs E-Studios and helps small businesses with their marketing.
When should I get help with Social Media Management?
- If you’re starting to ask the question, it’s probably time to outsource.
- If you are the creative mind, you need to find someone that can implement the strategy behind the scenes.
- Find someone that understands your business, and can see the vision.
How can hiring a marketing manager help a business?
- Having a second set of eyes on your business is incredibly helpful.
- Abby often will look at a client’s website and give them feedback to make sure that they are creating a good customer experience.
- The little details make a big difference to your customer experience. It’s important to have someone come in that understands marketing and can brainstorm with you.
- Marketing managers can also take a lot of tedious tasks off your plate and help you implement your ideas and strategy.
What are the differences between a marketing manager and a virtual assistant?
- A virtual assistant helps you execute tasks. A good virtual assistant can help you get things done, but it requires you to create a list of tasks for them to do.
- A marketing manager can also help with tasks, but they should also be able to help with the strategy and create tasks for themselves.
- In my business, we create a marketing calendar that includes all of the tasks, posts, emails, etc.
How should we choose a marketing manager?
- Figure out your goals and dreams for your business.
- Find the things that you love to do, and the things that you don’t enjoy doing. Outsource the things you don’t like doing.
- You need to find someone that you “vibe” with. They should be the type of person you could spend time with and be friends with.
- It’s okay to say no to a marketing manager. You need to find one that’s right for you.
- Make sure that you look at a resume or portfolio.
How do you balance your business and personal life?
- Balancing a business and a family is incredibly hard!
- Work with your family to decide on the best dynamic for you. In Abby’s case, Being a wife and mother is important, but Abby felt a little empty, and needed to do other things to feel fulfilled.
- She worked closely with her husband to decide on the best way to balance her work and being a wife and mother.
- As your business grows, you have to learn to balance everything. Hiring out help in the home is okay, and can really help you grow.
- It’s okay to want to be more than one thing. It’s okay to be a business owner AND mother.
- Put your needs first a few hours a day.
What are some tips that we can implement in our social media?
- Everyone, and every business is a little different.
- First, decide if you want to be on social media. It’s not for everyone. There are other ways to market your business if it brings you stress.
- Don’t worry about the numbers. Don’t worry about the likes or followers. Engagement is more important than numbers.
- When you are on social media, focus on relationships and real conversations.
