ENCORE ALERT! If you’ve been anywhere near us lately, you know we’ve been VERY busy yelling about mifepristone. Lizz and Moji have been MIA from the podosphere the last couple of weeks because our badass team at Abortion Access Front just wrapped up the Mife Stories Project in DC, a 24-HOUR mifepristone storytelling marathon, where we joined some incredible leaders in the pro-abobo movement to read aloud the real stories of people who have accessed this medication and wanted to share their truth. Because while the anti-abortion movement keeps doubling down on the same tired lies and misinformation about mifepristone, we’re gonna keep drowning that bullshit out with the voices of the people who actually use it.

So, since Mife is VERY much on the brain, we’re bringing back our episode breaking down the Louisiana v. FDA hearing from September. Here’s how that hearing went down…

Last month, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in Louisiana v. FDA, the case that could decide whether mifepristone remains available through telehealth, pharmacies, and the mail. If ya didn’t know, for the last YEAR The Boot State has been obsessing over giving access to the abortion pill mifepristone the boot. So you best believe the Buzzkills dove head, nose, ears, and tatas-first into the fuckery of the oral arguments so you don’t have to! Lizz and Moji break down all the legal jargon, courtroom chaos, the standing question, the “irreparable harm” claims, and what may happen next. Because if anti-abortion extremists are trying to turn one state’s ban into everyone’s problem, you deserve to know exactly how. 

PLUS! The amazing folks at ProPublica dropped some tragic knowledge – deaths from ectopic pregnancies have DOUBLED since the Dobbs decision. And we are pissed. ENCORE ALERT! The Feminist Buzzkills are off for a much needed end-of-summer break! But, no need to fear! We’re leaving y’all with some extra brain juice to keep you company while we’re offline. So, in honor of that, we’re dropping an encore episode from May, when we tried to make sense of the mifepristone case headed to the Fifth Circuit.

If you’re not already familiar with Louisiana v. FDA or need a refresher on WTF is going on, this is the perfect catch-up episode. WHY YOU ASK? Because Sept 9th is the next hearing at the Fifth Circuit on this case, we’ll be dropping a brand-new episode breaking down the oral arguments and what they could mean for the future of medication abortion. Basically: consider this your mifepristone case homework. The episode went a little something like this…

Lizz and Moji have been chugging Imodium the last seven days as they follow the twists and turns of the Fifth Circus Court ruling that created a federal ban and put the mail distribution of the abortion pill mifepristone on the chopping block. Between Sam Alito giving us a week of reprieve to dial back our panic to 23/7 and the FDA assessing the fate of abortion medication using a debunked “study” (really just a forced-birth fever dream scribbled on fishwrap), we were already hanging by a thread. Then Oklahoma decided to do the absolute most by funneling money to FAKE clinics. So yeah, you’re gonna need an emotional support drink, spliff, snack, or whatever survival instincts you have left for this episode.
