We begin with some of the latest news, from Kevin McCarthy's humiliating bid for Speaker of the House to the nurse's strike in NYC to an interesting tweet from Lizzo that got us thinking. Then we get into the latest press from Harry and Meghan, from their 6 part Netflix documentary to the 60 minutes interview with Anderson Cooper, to Harry's new memoir, SPARE.
Rep. Paul Gosar, people overreacting in response to Jennifer Lawrence's dumb comment, Lensa app, Seattle Tenant Code Office, Moore v. Harper, Kathy Hilton
News dump! We process some of the latest headlines, from nonstop Elon Musk and Twitter drama, to protests in China, the World Cup in Qatar, the railway strike, and Balenciaga's issues (yikes!).
This fall has been crazy for us -- after four years of releasing weekly episodes, it's been a bummer to have life interfere in such a dramatic way, but we're back, for real this time! Thanks for sticking with us.
No we see you this week as we get back into the swing of things, but we'll resume those next week. We also have a few great interviews we've conducted with authors participating in the Miami Book Fair. We can't wait to share them with you! They were fantastic conversations.
We're baaack! We explain the unplanned hiatus: spooky season started a little early for Maria. She's been dealing with a scary situation in her apartment complex. There were drug dealers squatting in the unit next door, and then a shooting at the building...it was a mess. Not a conducive environment for podcasting, or anything really.
The rest of the episode is a news dump where we try to absorb potentially a depressingly large red wave for this year's midterms, some upcoming upsetting Supreme Court cases, Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter (Erin has STRONG feelings), Ye's antisemitism...yikes... and general anxiety about global events in Ukraine, Brazil, and China. We didn't get to Iran in this episode, but there's a lot to say, and we will discuss it soon.
