Drocella Mugorewera is #1 international best-selling author of the book Leaders with A Heart. She resides in Knoxville, TN with her wonderful husband, Jean, of 30 years. A testament to enduring resilience, Drocella Mugorewera is an international champion for diversity intent on building trust between business and minority communities worldwide. Raised in Rwanda, Africa, Drocella won a scholarship to the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. Returning, she became the Director of Agriculture and eventually a member of Parliament and Government, contributing to significant environmental changes, including a reform finally allowing women to inherit the land. Her safety in jeopardy, Drocella later fled Rwanda alone, bravely beginning life anew in Knoxville, Tennessee. There the unstoppable leader received acclaim as the executive director of Bridge Refugee Services, recognized as one of Knoxville’s Difference Makers. Now a business coach and international speaker, Drocella was a member of Diversity Champions at the Knoxville Chamber of commerce. Reunited with her family, she continues to thrive, a firm believer in the miracle mindset.

Angelic and Lora shared their experiences over the holidays of being burned out without realizing it and how that presented for each of them in different ways.

Do you find yourself constantly moving and busy? If so, maybe take a moment to ask yourself why and be curious. Could it be an attempt to avoid thoughts or emotions you don't want to deal with?

The title of this week’s episode is a Helen Keller quote that Jean shared during our chat today. Jean has been teaching self-empowerment principles for 40 years. She has studied metaphysics extensively and applies universal principles to every area of her life. Her articles have appeared in major newspapers and publications and her syndicated radio show, Positive Moments was broadcast in 110 markets nationally. Jean’s passion is helping people recognize their innate power and place in the Universe, and to live fully from that knowing. Her specialties are transformational coaching, metaphysics, dream interpretation, Akashic record reading (over 35,000 given), and public speaking. We had a great time discussing what it meant for Rikki growing up in the military with a set of ideas to let the “boys win.”  Don't be smarter or faster or be better than them in any way.  That was not a good thing to do to them. Going into business meant she had to find her voice, not worry about those teachings, and just be authentically who she was.

Talking through how not everyone is your friend just because, but to choose your friends, choosing those that are willing to disagree with you, but still willing to support you. Those are the ones that love you and all that you are.  Friends should not just be there just because you have known them forever. Being the smartest person in the room or not having anyone around you  growing isn’t good either. Being on a path of growth is the goal.

She explained that we can make excuses, for too little time, money, and energy, but it takes a real belief in ourselves to build a business.  Make sure to tune into all the wonderful nuggets of wisdom that Rikki had to offer.

In this episode we further explore being a digital nomad. 

• What is a digital nomad?
• Women are leading the way with digital nomadism
• Digital nomads are commonly portrayed as men, but a Flexjobs survey found the opposite to be true, with 70% of digital nomads identifying as female.
• How many are there? There are currently over 35 million digital nomads worldwide as of 2022.
• In the United States alone, there are 15.5 million digital nomads meaning that US digital nomads make up the vast majority of the nomad population. This is a huge result, considering in 2019 only 7.3 million Americans identified as digital nomads.
• Between 2019 and 2020, the digital nomad movement grew by a huge 49% with 10.9 million nomads from the US.
• Why is the growth so fast?
• The top 5 reasons most people become digital nomads are:

1. 73% said they wanted a better work-life balance
2. 68% said they love the freedom of the lifestyle
3. 55% said they just love to travel
4. 43% said they wanted to avoid office politics
5. 37% said they had a desire to explore other cultures

• But most interestingly, the top 2 are to do with freedom and work-life balance. The flexibility to choose what you want is something that most digital nomads seem to value.
• Nomad demographics
• The average age of a digital nomad is 32 years old.
• Most people start their digital nomad journey at 29. Ironically, the average age of burnout is 32 years old with most people starting to feel the negative effects of corporate work-life balance at the age of 29.
• Marital status

               The majority, 66% of digital nomads said that they were single.

• Education: 

               High School10%

               Bachelor’s54%

               Master’s33%

• Employed35%
• Self-Employed46%

• A combined 33% of nomads work in the marketing industry and 31% in the creative industry.
• The median salary of a digital nomad is $85,000 per year and the average salary is $120,512 per year.
