In this episode, we talk about what it’s like to live in the world as an empath. Sometimes, as a more sensitive person, it’s easy to experience shame or difficulty accepting yourself. Listen in as we talk about what it means to be an empath, and in Tiffany’s story you will hear how she had amazing gifts but was made to believe she was mentally ill.

As a little kid, she was seeing spirits and was extremely tapped into the other dimensions. Sadly, no one in her very religious family got her, so she was a very misunderstood and troubled child. At age 8, she began the cycle of being medicated. In fact, at one point, by the time she was 18, she was on 25 drugs which she stayed on for 20+ years.

After all this plus having weird health issues, she determined that she would have to find her own solutions as traditional medicine was failing her. This dove her into a deep study of spirituality and other healing modalities.

What’s fascinating is that even in spite of getting shock treatments and having horrible physical and mental health issues, Tiffany knew that she was here to experience joy. So that became her path to learn how to heal herself and now others.

This episode is extremely inspiring as there are many nuggets that we share for how to stay hopeful and create a new life. You will also love hearing how to be an “empowered” empath, what that is, and how to mine the gifts in it.

Bridget Costello survived the unimaginable...the loss of her son from a drug overdose. In this episode we share about his life, and how she managed the to survive the event that would change everything for her family. Bridget shares the story of getting pregnant at 19. That took her off the course of her life’s dreams, yet she had tremendous family support raising her son Conor. But sadly, his addiction escalated such that after numerous rehabs and attempts to help him sober up, he died.

What is remarkable about this story is two things. First, that she was able to go on. We share in detail what she did and how she navigated this most horrific event. Part of what kept her going was her two younger daughters who needed their mom (and dad) to be present for them. But what she also realized, from the advice of her very wise Irish grandmother Delia who had also lost a baby, was that in order for her to start to recover, she had to say yes to everything. That meant taking all the support that was offered and making sure that she did not perish along with her son. She kept making herself available to new things and eventually landed on a career as a Development Director for non-profits that has been richly rewarding.

Next, we talk about the legacy she was able to create in her son’s name. Bridget’s family has created “For the Love of Conor” foundation which is a non-profit designed to help the youth of Arizona have enrichment activities, so they don’t make bad choices for themselves. So this truly is a story of turning tragedy into something good.

Bridget Costello began her work with non-profit organizations. She served as the Regional Coordinator for The American Ireland Fund, an international charitable organization that has raised over $300 million for worthy causes in Ireland. Additionally, she served as The Development Director for Saint Mary’s High School in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, where she raised sizable funds for both organizations’ operating budgets. In 2008 she founded Emerald Consulting, a consulting firm that specializes in elevating non-profit organizations through inspiration and education.

Shayla Boyd-Gill had a successful engineering job that was making great money. But when her young son's teacher told her that because he was smarter than most of the kids, keeping him in school would "dumb him down" so she suggested a private school or homeschooling. Initially, Shayla freaked out but found herself being willing to leave her job to homeschool her son. She had no idea how she’d do it, or how to bring in money. But one of her ways of finding the answers is by asking, “How can I” and then waiting. This led her to find the right community and the next steps for her to replace her income.

The answer to “What are you really good at” inspired her to realize she was really good at birthing babies! Thus, she moved into being a childbirth educator and doula. Grief is a topic that most people have a hard time navigating. We want to brush off how hard/heavy and big it is, and we are not trained in the best ways to be with the grieving. In this episode, Shannon shares her journey of suffering six miscarriages and the lessons it taught her.

Ultimately one of the "gifts of grief" was that she completely changed her career and now works with women who have suffered from a miscarriage.

After experiencing six miscarriages, Shannon Passalacqua knew she needed to use her pain to help other women heal.
