The Opioid and Fentanyl epidemic has not reached it's peak point yet. In 2020, 93,000 men and women died from drug overdose and do you really think it is slowing down? No it is not. The borders are open, "blues" are being sold at an alarming rate and we can't slow it down. 

We do not have the resources or manpower to stop the movement. We are so wrapped up into counting ballets, fighting about who won the the presidency, black lives matter, blue lives matter and recording TikTok's to worry about "The Silent Killer."

In this episode, Brock shares his quest, his movement with the listeners. Hoping they will take a deep dive into figuring out how to make changes in the recovery world. There is no mistaking this, the death rate in 2021 will grossly exceed that of 2020. We are not ever close to slowing down this runaway train. No one has an answer. The President intends to "nominate former West Virginia health commissioner Dr. Rahul Gupta to head the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy." If confirmed he would be the first physician ever selected to that position. 

Hear me out on this, the Obama administration said they threw money at this epidemic, the Trump administration passed laws and threw money towards this epidemic. The President is claiming he is throwing money at the epidemic. 

What if money is not the solution? What is next? What if we are handling this epidemic all wrong?

These stats are staggering. Did you know that more than 93,000 people died from drug overdoses in 2020? The CDC indicated that this is a "29.4% increase from the 72,151 deaths projected in 2019." 

"This is the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period, and the largest increase since at least 1999." (NIDA)

The stats/article also indicated that, "Inappropriate use of opioids was behind most of the deaths." (CDC)

This is not new, Did Covid progress and enhance the death rate, Yes. But we knew that was coming. 

So now what, what can we do about it?

Erick Robertson was a First Responder Cadaver dog handler at Ground Zero in 2001. Over the past 20 years he has been able to interact with people across the country as he spoke about his time there and his work with Search and Rescue K9. Erick learned that a very large percent of the people he spoke to would never have the opportunity to visit the 9/11 National Memorial and Museum in New York City. From that knowledge he started a nonprofit foundation that has been building the largest mobile tribute exhibition in US history that will travel to an estimated 1400 locations across the USA that have honored the victims of 9/11 with monuments made from the steel beams of the World Trade Center Towers. In addition to that memorial exhibition, he has recently launched a 9/11 Remembered "Let's Roll" Podcast tour that will criss cross the country recording the anecdotal stories of America's memories of 9/11/2001. It is Ericks hope that 9/11 will no longer be spoken about just once a year. Thousands have since died from toxic exposure from being at Ground Zero. 9/11 did not end in 2001 and many more lives will be cut short for decades to come because of that attack on our country. It is his greatest hope that continuing to remember the fallen heroes of 9/11/2001 will remind America of how this nation joined together to work through one of the worst days in our modern history. Richard Kaufman is a retired Army Veteran who struggled with drug addiction, alcoholism, and homelessness after his career in the U.S Military ended prematurely by an accident that left him legally blind. Richard and I discuss drug addiction, life in the military, life in recovery and what it's like to have a relationship with a Higher Power. I met Lt. Col. Dave Grossman in 2002 at a police conference. I attended as a participant after being involved in an officer involved shooting. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman was the presenter and he shared his philosophy of the phycological edge surrounding "police shootings." .

Lt. Col. Dave Grossman (retired) is the author of a dozen books including best seller ‘On Killing‘ and ‘On Combat‘. These books deal with the psychological effects of killing and war on soldiers. He was a Professor of Psychology at West Point, a former infantryman, paratrooper, and graduate of the Army’s Ranger School.

Grossman stands alongside men such as Massad Ayoob, Jeff Cooper, and John Farnham, as a person who has begun conversations and helped laid the groundwork that the modern science of lethal force encounters rests on. He is also known for his popularizing of the term ‘sheepdog’ referring to protectors.

Parents, Lt. Col. Dave Grossman will shed some light on the truth of cell phones and how video games play a role in violence in our children. His insight into gaming and social media is alarming and should not be taken lightly. It is time to pick a side, are you willing to protect your children at all costs?
