My name is George Anton and I have spent my entire adult life creating full length, independent motion pictures in Los Angeles, California.

Once upon a time, way before the streaming wars when Netflix was just a dream and Home Entertainment was being distributed on DVDs, I executive produced my own movies on my dime.

I was doing everything starting with the ideea to writing the screenplay, casting actors, location scouting, licensing, producing, filming, directing, video editing, artwork and so on.

I thought nothing is impossible until I got to the promotion and distribution part.

I remember 13 years ago when I was knocking from door to door in Hollywood, begging studios like Warner Brothers, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Disney and so on to distribute my films and nobody was paying attention to me.

They did not care that I have to put food on the table for a small child at home.

I was being turned down by every major movie studio in town when I knew, I’m a talented Film Director with an amazing creative mind.

Even my own wife was telling me that my movies are not movies. Are just jokes. When filmmaking was my entire life.

Finally, YouTube noticed my movie trailers and I became the first filmmaker in the world to be allowed to publish on their platform full Length Motion Pictures when everybody else could not upload videos longer than 15 minutes.

Then, I got millions of views and tens of thousands of dollars in revenue.

I just thought I finally got a break in Hollywood.

No. Soon enough, YouTube started breaking the copyright laws allowing third parties to upload big budget full movies they did not legally own.

When I contacted YouTube to remove all the illegal copyrighted studio movies from their website, pointing out that I can not compete with every kid at home uploading a copy from his mother’s DVD collection, YouTube chose to run away from responsibility, continued to monetise them and shadow-banned my movie channel.

By the year 2012, YouTube became the new PirateBay for stolen movies and the revenue for filmmakers like me went back to zero.

Then, createspace.com where I was still selling my DVD’s independently got bought by Jeff Bezos and became Amazon Prime Video where I monetised immediately making thousands of dollars per month once again.

Soon enough, Amazon Studios shows up and goes: “Why are we paying these independent filmmakers all these money when we can produce our own shitty Movies and TV Shows?” So my streaming revenue went back to zero.

I was just another test rat for their new streaming service.

Today, I was announced, there is a new player in town: Spotify, and I’ve got early access to upload Video Podcasts.

All I wanted was this new opportunity for my movies to be seen by millions of people once again and I would like to say Thank You, from the bottom of my heart, to the CEO of Spotify Mr. Daniel Ek and the entire video streaming team.
