Peter Bogdanovich makes his first appearance on the podcast to discuss two major projects: the Quad Cinema theatrical release of his new documentary, "The Great Buster: A Celebration" (10/5) about the life & career of the iconic silent screen comedian, and the Netflix release of the final Orson Welles film "The Other Side of the Wind" which has finally been completed thanks to the streaming giant (11/2).

Reinaldo Marcus Green's first feature film, the Sundance Award-winning "Monsters and Men" opens Friday, September 28th thanks to NEON and MoviePass Films; Melanie Mayron ("Harry and Tonto", "thirtysomething") has a new feature film called "Snapshots" that stars Piper Laurie and Brooke Adams, and which is currently available on iTunes and cable on demand.

The Deputy Director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Eugene Hernandez, is the first guest; we discuss the 56th New York Film Festival (September 28th — October 14th); also Alonso Ruizpalacios (Güeros) discusses his new film, currently in theaters, "Museo" which stars Gael García Bernal.

Jim Cummings first feature "Thunder Road" which he wrote, directed and in which he stars opens Friday, October 12th but you can see the film this Sunday, Sept. 23rd in theaters participating in Art House Theater Day; also the director of the new documentary "Love, Gilda", Lisa D'Apolito. We're joined by film journalist Lisa Rosman.

The Gold Brothers, Ari & Ethan, are the guests on this episode. The two brothers have collaborated on their film "The Song of Sway Lake"; Ari from a directorial standpoint and Ethan as the composer & songwriter. The film opens at the Cinema Village in NYC on 9/21 & on demand and streaming on 9/25.

In the first segment I'm joined by Columbia School of the Arts film teachers Jack Lechner & Rob King regarding a retrospective for the film producer and champion Ira Deutchman (9/14—9/23) at Lenfest Center; and then Sasha Waters Freyer about her documentary about the street photographer Garry Winogrand. Up first, filmmaker Amy Scott with a doc about the legendary 70's filmmaker Hal Ashby. The film is called "Hal" and it opens nationwide on Friday, Sept. 7. Then a conversation with the filmmaking team Kristin Slaysman (who also stars in the film) and Josh Crockett with their movie, Dr. Brinks and Dr. Brinks. The film is currently available for demand and also stars Robert Longstreet & Ashley Spillers.

This episode of the podcast celebrates the new indie film "Support the Girls" starring actor Regina Hall. We welcome back filmmaker Andrew Bujalski ("Computer Chess") for his third visit and producer Houston King ("Hearts Beat Loud") for his second visit. The actor Frank Mosley is known for his work on films such as "Upstream Color", "Some Beasts" and countless other indie films but what might be less apparent is that he is emerging as a director in his own rite. This coming weekend, Brooklyn's Spectacle Theater begins a retrospective of his directorial efforts including three shorts and his feature, "Her Wilderness".
