Local clinics often struggle to meet the wide array of community needs. Fort Worth Concierge Plus is the opposite: they have all the resources and services necessary to treat the whole patient. This makes their issue not supply, but demand--like trying to figure out ways to inform their patients about such services before intake, and getting feedback from patients on the same services can be a challenge. This capstone project sought to ameliorate this discrepancy by creating informative multimedia resources that aptly display all their different wellness, aesthetic, and health interventions for clients. It also incorporated a digital form to track patient satisfaction with their services to ensure that they meet the needs of the community.

This capstone project focuses on how a local data center development firm, Kings Branch Data in Fort Worth, uses data-backed information to find, design, and develop real estate opportunities into state-of-the-art data centers throughout the southwest. Through a partnership with the firm, I will gain a deeper understanding of the real estate development process while contributing to ongoing projects by supporting research efforts and providing input during the design phase.

Life is chaotic, but your space does not have to be. The task of organizing your home is intimidating, time consuming, and expensive, especially when clients struggle to visualize their improved space. The team at Sort the Fort assists clients in transforming their space, but communicating their vision has proven challenging in the past. This capstone project developed a digital organization tool that allows Sort the Fort to digitally organize their clients space. Through interviews, expert feedback, and interactive prototyping, this tool was refined to better meet the needs of organizers and clients. By allowing clients to preview their organized space and the products required before beginning the process, the tool reduces uncertainty, builds confidence, and turns the idea of organizing into an approachable task for clients.

As Lacrosse grows in the small community of Ft. Worth, highschool boys will need to step up and coach youth lacrosse. I worked with Momentum Lacrosse to create a hiring form and steps to find the right athletes to help coach the next generation.

Social media is often a barrier for parents when contemplating purchasing a phone for their adolescent. Parents’ primary concern is often regarding the restrictions that should be placed on social media applications. Through a partnership with The Bug and Bee, a guidebook was developed and designed to serve as a resource for parents navigating these concerns. The purpose of this project is to reduce the stress parents may experience when attempting to understand the features and functions of the many social media platforms currently available. This online guidebook has the potential to be distributed to various therapists’ offices and will be made freely accessible to parents.

Growing fresh food indoors sounds simple, yet many smart garden systems are expensive, overly technical, or intimidating to beginners. Through a partnership with OrchidBox, an indoor gardening biotechnology company, Rooted in Simplicity explores how the OrchidBox Mini could be improved and expanded to make indoor growing more accessible, affordable, and user friendly. The project focused particularly on supporting the growth of fast growing edible plants such as herbs and leafy greens, which are popular among apartment dwellers and beginner gardeners. To better understand opportunities for improvement, interviews were conducted with experienced gardeners, retail professionals, product design experts, and potential consumers to evaluate the system from customer, feasibility, and design perspectives. Their feedback revealed opportunities to simplify user experience while strengthening the product's functionality and market competitiveness. As a result, several research based design recommendations were developed, including the addition of a root view window to monitor plant health, simplified indicators to reduce technical complexity, potential smart app connectivity to support plant care reminders, and material and manufacturing considerations to help lower production costs. These insights were compiled into an organized research presentation analyzing the competitive landscape of indoor smart gardens and proposing practical improvements that could help OrchidBox refine the OrchidBox Mini and make indoor gardening more approachable for everyday users.

THRIVE at All Saints' is a local outreach program founded in 2024. It is ​​an initiative aimed at fostering academic and personal growth among underserved elementary school students from the east side of Fort Worth. Lola McCollough has been a volunteer student mentor since the beginning, and she has learned so much from her experience. As a way to give back, Lola decided to use her knowledge of physical and dance education to create a “structured play” curriculum for breaks in between classes. Learning from Liink at TCU to incorporate more physical education into THRIVE, Lola strives to benefit the students who need brain breaks in between lessons during the summer.

Chosen Ones, located in Fort Worth, Texas, was founded in 2007 to support both parents and children in creating a more stable and safe environment for youth. Recently, the organization identified a need for a centralized collection of resources to better equip volunteers who assist youth in foster care. Chosen Ones has also expressed interest in developing a mentorship program to provide encouragement and guidance for adolescents in the foster care system. This capstone project addresses that need by proposing the development of a mentorship program that connects foster care teens with community volunteers who are not directly involved in the foster care system. This structure allows youth to build trusting relationships with mentors who can offer encouragement, guidance, and consistent support. Historically, resources available to individuals in foster care have been difficult to access and are often not designed with teens in mind. The existing systems may be fragmented, difficult to navigate, and lacking cohesion. By pairing teens with community mentors, this program aims to reduce these barriers. Mentors have the potential to assist youth in identifying opportunities, accessing resources, and planning for their futures while also providing a supportive relationship that exists outside the formal constraints of the foster care system.
