It can be a tough ask trying to launch a side project and finding paying customers. If, like me you are the builder, marketer, sales person and operations manager, it is a lot of plates to be constantly spinning. Sites like UpWork and Fiverr can be of help, as well as finding and hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA). However finding someone that delivers what you want and that you can work with on a regular basis can be a bit of a dark art. I've tried may times on many different side hustles to hire some help with varying degrees of success. In this episode I discuss my finding and give 3 "tips" that I try and use to try and find someone that I can work with.

Like most people trying to make a bit of extra money on the side. Hoping to replace your 9-5 income. I have tried the print on demand t-shirt and apparel services. It can be exciting at first seeing one of you designs listed on Amazon or another online store. In reality it can be a lot of work for very little reward. In this episode I chat about signing up for these services and how I found the process of creating a design and trying to market the products.

I thought I had finally cracked this side hustle thing. From "curing my own headache" I came up with a SaaS product which was a niche, within a niche, within a niche. It took about 18 months to build and I managed to land my first ever paying customer. To say I was over the moon is an understatement. However, 7 days later I shut down the website. Going from the elation to devastation in 7 days wasn't nice. In the episode I talk about the SaaS product and why I shut it down so soon after finding a paying customer.

The Away Day Bible mobiles apps were the first project a few friends and I got out to the world. It was exciting to see the app listed on the app stores. But what do you do to promote the app and get users to install it.

In this episode I chat about how we set-up a few marketing sites backed up by a social media to try and drive people to download our app.

The first ever side project that I actually got out to people was a mobile app called "Away Day Bible". It was the brain child of a friend of mine and three of us worked on it and got it out to the world.

It was a lot of effort and hard work upfront. The buzz of seeing something you have built live on Google Play and iTunes was unreal. It really did give me a taste of getting stuff out to the world.

When I first started on my side hustle journey back in 2011/2012. I didn't think it would be possible to replace my normal income with a side hustle. Three books changed that belief. In this episode I discuss each book and why I liked it them so much. I would recommend you read at least one of them. If you find one thing useful when reading a book, then the time has been well spent.

Many people try to escape from their job by side stepping into the Freelance world. I've personally tried this a few times with little success. However, it has been a valuable skill to have, as I have been able to build up a modest list of contacts. These people have helped me over the years with my side projects, so there are pros and cons with the Freelancing economy. In this episode I briefly give my experiences of building up a freelancing network.
