Today, Jennifer Brindley joins Andréa to discuss her journey with overcoming comparisons and fear of failure. She talks about how she struggled with comparing herself to other photographers and how she had to take a step back and ask herself if doing so was serving her. Jennifer shares a quote by Theodore Roosevelt that is so fitting for today’s episode “Comparison is the thief of joy.” With this quote in mind, She shifted her focus towards growth, personally and professionally. After doing so, Jennifer noticed that her perspective changed. She became able to draw inspiration from another photographer's work instead of falling into a jealousy and comparison spiral. That mindset shift not only helped to grow her business, it also helped her grow as a person at the core. Today, I am kicking off my new overcoming series by sharing about my journey with overcoming childhood sexual abuse. The purpose of this series is to assure you that you are not alone in any experience you walk through in life. You can find healing and I hope that this series empowers you to embark on that journey. Accepting what happened to me as a child and acknowledging my feelings set me free. My journey to healing wasn’t easy, but Now that I’m on the other side of it I can say that the abuse I experienced as a child has no power over me today.
