In 2022 I had the privilege of being invited to a power lunch with billionaire small business coach, Bill Walsh, by my good friends, Simone and Rick Kvalheim, Alzheimer's reversal experts and owners of X-cellerated Health. Bill and I hit it off, I signed up to attend his upcoming Rainmaker Summit and became a member of his Powerteam International “tribe,” and we ended up spending several hours together the next day, analyzing our business and talking about how to take it to the next level. I attended Bill's Q4 2022 summit in Orlando, Florida with 3 of my team members ... right in the middle of Hurricane Ian (in October 2022). It was here that I met and became fast friends with his two wildly talented sons, Austin and Evan. Austin spoke at their event in Orlando (in October) and later in Vegas (this last December) and I was really impressed with his expertise and insights on online funnel work, digital marketing, and conversion, not to mention his skill as a speaker. He's a co-owner in PTI and the family's online text message/email marketing software company, MOBEX and he has built an impressive career as a world renowned marketing expert. This week on Finding Certainty, show host Patrick Laing visits with global fashion consultant, Charlotte Hart, on how she helps women all over the world to revamp their wardrobes and find more joy and satisfaction in their closets, working with them one-on-one or in groups to help define their styles, interests, needs, and more. “Think of [your closet] as a pantry in the kitchen,” she says. “When you have the basics – you can most often put a good meal together, even when you receive unexpected guests. Same goes for your closet. It’s not about having a closet full of clothes, and perhaps nothing to wear, but rather building one with staples you know flatter you and that you feel confident and comfortable in. Keep the 80/20 rule in mind,” she continues. “80% of the time you go in your closet, you will pick (the same) 20% of the pieces in there. So, let’s make those 20% the best they can be for you, and play with some fun additions when the mood strikes you. Being able to go into your closet and easily put an outfit together in 2 minutes, dressed to look good and feel great all day – that’s key in my book.” This episode offers a unique look at fashion, style, personal preference, and confidence in women (and all of us), woven into an engaging conversation on what it takes to build a successful business that endures (and even changes lives) for years. We’re keeping things close to home this week on Finding Certainty as I interview one of my favorite financial planners right here in Henderson, Nevada, the community (a suburb of Las Vegas) that we are both blessed to call home. Recently, I was invited to speak at a big CEO Summit at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Hundreds of CEOs from across America and around the globe were in attendance, all gathered together to exchange ideas and develop relationships. The Dean of the LU School of Business, Dave Brat, did a masterful job of organizing, leading, and mc'ing the event. Newt Gingritch was a keynote speaker, as was the President of Ghana, Winsome Sears, Lt. Governor of Virginia, and others. We met some incredible leaders and made some powerful business connections as well as lifelong friends. If you haven't ever been to the Liberty University campus, I highly recommend you check it out. It's a beautiful, clean campus and the students we met were outstanding ... clean-cut, articulate, and happy they seemed. As the largest evangelical Christian college in the U.S., the whole experience was an impressive, even spiritual, event and I'm grateful my team and I were able to attend. One of the unique things, about this annual CEO Summit is that a large portion of the attendees come from Africa and/or are focused on increasing trade relations between Africa and the U.S. Among other things, the Summit is a remarkable collaboration between U.S. interests and African interests, a braintrust and bridge-building exchange that is inspiring to say the least. As part of this visit, my VoiceAmerica colleague, Frank Helring, host of BizZne$$ BuzZ, who attended with me, and I, met a gifted grouping of black American leaders who are bringing about change in Africa that will be felt for generations to come. Led by CEO and Founder of Ward Holdings, Lloyd Ward, the first African American CEO of a Fortune 500 company in the U.S., to say the group is impressive is an understatement indeed. You may not know this, but Africa is one of the largest continents on the planet and represents as much as 60% of global resources but, a shocking statistic we also learned was that it only accounts for TWO PERCENT of the world's GNP! Why is this? It's hard to believe but it's true, due largely to colonization, marginalization, mismanagement, corruption, and more. All that's about to change though. Mr. Ward shares his story today on Finding Certainty, of how he has been guided, prepared, and CALLED even, to spearhead this multi-trillion dollar development, about how he and his extremely talented team are well underway in opening the floodgates of Africa, and with them, new opportunities for prosperity and equity for the people of Africa and beyond.
