“As we go outside the family, how I see the world might first of all be influenced by how I see relationships in my own home.” —Dr. Skinner
Carly’s husband, Eric, joins this episode as they, in real time, navigate parental differences with the help of Dr. Skinner! We highlight how disagreements are completely normal and really how modeling healthy conflict resolution may just be one of the best gifts we can offer our children.
We explore the healthy methods of conflict resolution, including: the power of partner and family counsel, the real significance of empathy, improving the quality of our communication, and maintaining an overview focus on our shared desire for our children’s health and happiness.
The conversation also addresses tailoring parenting approaches to each child's unique needs and the impact of home relationships on children's worldview.
We hope to provide valuable perspective to parents seeking to enhance family unity and effectively address challenges.

"The body is the cup in which to drink the world." --Dr. George Handley
In this episode we highlight how attitudes towards body image begin formation at a young age and how body image affects overall mental health. The conversation advocates for a shift in how we view, talk about, and take care of our bodies--
Rather than a focus on individual body appearance, listeners are encouraged to refocus their messaging on body appreciation. Young people can learn to appreciate their own bodies most especially for all the experiences their bodies allow them to enjoy.
It is through our bodies we experience life.
Dr. Skinner emphasizes the role adults play in shaping their children's body image and ultimately how taking care of our bodies allows our bodies to bountifully take care of us-- mentally, physically, emotionally and intellectually.

Trailer:
Carly:
Welcome to Finding Noble, a podcast where we climb into the world of young people’s mental health, and provide support for the adults who support them.
I’m your host, Carly Red,
Skinner:
And I’m your Co-host, Dr. Kevin Skinner,
Carly:
You’ve heard the formula: When you know better you do better?
Well we’ve found this is especially true when it comes to working with the young people in our lives.
Skinner:
Yes— the more information we absorb around our children’s mental health, understanding what makes them mentally healthy, what ultimately helps them be happy——the better we will be at creating the types of homes and places of learning where they can gather emotional intelligence. And while so many of us never received this emotional education ourselves, we can learn and help your children. By doing so we will be creating a better world for our children. probably have a lot more to learn.
Carly:
And never more than ever, has it become more important to teach emotional AND relational skills. This upcoming generation will only know a digital world. And real relationships, true connection, will become incontestably tricker as time moves forward. Which means good mental health will be harder and harder to hold on to.
This is why I’ve recruited Dr. Skinner, the one who so many in the industry go to for answers, to give us answers here on Finding Noble!
Skinner:
In this first season of Finding Noble we will discuss the most significant concerns and questions we’ve acquired through thousands and thousands of assessments from parents all around the world— discussing Burnout, Anxiety, Mindful Parenting, Healthy Body Image, Creating Healthy Technology Plans, Nurturing a Growth Mindset, Boundaries, How to talk about Pornography…. and more.
It is never ever too late to learn more and to do better as parents, teachers and caregivers.
Carly:
Why are we doing this in a podcast? It’s because we feel an immediate urgency to circulate mental health education to as many people as quickly as possible.
It will take more than a few professionals working on this— this really will take a collective effort, all of us working together.
So we hope you’ll accompany us here on Finding Noble as together we ALL join in the noble work of healing and building real and true connection and healthy mental health in this new beautiful, growing generation of youth.
