They say that some goodbyes are difficult. This is one of those goodbyes. Although it feels like we just started this new podcast series, it’s already come to the final episode. So we decided to end it the way we started it: by talking all about Sparks. To celebrate the last episode and the near end of our last semester, we reflected, introduced the story topics of Issue 21, and featured some of our very own listeners. We won’t say bye until you get to the end of this episode, and if you miss us, remember that you can always come back!

Imagine if you were given the opportunity to ride a time machine to the past. Would you? Well, that’s what we did (sort of) in this week’s episode. We “traveled back in time” to our childhood to visit our younger selves. Now that we’re adults and soon-to-be college graduates, we feel even more attached to the phrase “back in the days…” Time flies a little too quickly, so travel back in time with us as we take a quick break from worrying about the present and the future.
P.S. There’s no stories from past issues this week. Just our own.

School can be rough for everyone. We’re 100% sure about that. For Asian American students, dealing with pressure, stress, and stereotypes is a common part of academic and professional life. Can our favorite school subjects and teachers make up for that? Put yourself in our shoes as we walk through our experiences as Asian American students and discuss how we feel about our future career paths.

The best way to chill is by signing into your friend’s (or your) Netflix account and watching some good entertainment. How can we argue against that? That’s all we really ever do in our free time. We love Asian entertainment because it’s unique and a fun way to stay tuned to our culture. That’s why we hope to see more Asian representation. Join us in our discussion on Asian broadcast entertainment and representation in American media, and get ready to meet UF Sparks Magazine’s Co-Design Editor Mercy Tsay, our special guest!

Let’s say you had to choose just one food to eat for the rest of your life. It’s nearly impossible. That’s how we feel about Asian food. It’s not something that we can just pick and choose that easily. Join us as we talk about all our favorite Asian food and what they mean to us. We made sure to eat beforehand to not get too hungry while recording and hope you did as well, unless you plan on eating while listening!

It’s tough to learn a language, and it’s even harder to be good at it. We may think we’re skilled enough to call ourselves multilingual, but are we really? Tune in to hear our thoughts on the challenges of language barriers and what we would do to overcome them. You might hear some relatable stories and encouraging advice that could help you along your own language journey.

We all know what it’s like to experience two (or more) totally different types of vibes. For us, that’s pretty much what being Asian American is. We didn’t sign up for it, but through many hurdles we’ve come to appreciate and be proud of our ethnic backgrounds. Join us in this week's episode as we talk all about our personal thoughts and experiences with being Asian American.

If not, then press play and listen to what we have to say about what it's like to be part of Sparks Magazine at the University of Florida. We'll explain why it's the perfect way to share the APIA (Asian and Pacific Islander American) experience as college students.
