  • Healing The Rejection Wound
Have you ever been rejected? Do you have a fear or see this theme showing up in your relationships? We all have our core wounds that sometimes sneak in when we aren’t paying close attention—it is easier than we may think, sneaky ego! I recite a poem I created that was inspired by a core wound I have around rejection and reflect on my healing through this. I reference Human Design, a modality of aura mechanics and how we are uniquely designed (if you are interested to look up your chart you can google “Human Design” or if you’re on social media and want to follow an AWESOME expert and teacher you can follow Raquel Reyna her FB group is @spiritualizedentreprenuers and IG @raquelspiritualizedbizcoach—I HIGHLY recommend her if you are interested in Human Design or want to learn more!!) We all are worthy of love and acceptance, we are all worthy to heal through our trauma. Sometimes I feel like the healing is worse than the initial trauma. But we are in a different time that has ever existed and we have more power than we may believe. I end the episode talking about my forgiveness stone (an exercise from The Book of Forgiving by Desmond and Mpho Tutu) and how I made it beautiful (I painted the different chakras on it and now it will be my freedom stone 🌸) We are all doing our best and I appreciate you so much! Happy 1 year to The Poetic Modern Mystic Podcast! Namaste 🙏

  • Safe Space
**SENSITIVE MATERIAL OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND TRAUMA, PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION** When we speak our truth, we give our parts we have suppressed freedom to be broken from the chains of repression. I start off this episode with a poem titled “A Mother’s Unconditional Love” that was inspired by recent events through my own healing journey. *Correction* the name of the documentary I reference in this episode is called “Strip Down, Rise Up” that is available on Netflix. Creator and founder of the S Factor, Sheila Kelley creates a space of empowering the Divine Feminine and holds a space of exploration and healing within our bodies. Sexual trauma is a common and sensitive topic for women and men. I want to invite you to speak your truth, stop normalizing toxic masculinity and rape culture, and dive into your own safety in your body. The therapeutic technique I talk about EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) has been a great tool in the psychological and therapeutic realm to take some of the emotional charge out of certain traumatic memories. If you and/or someone you know who has experienced sexual abuse and/or trauma and feeling unsafe, shame, blame, or any other negative emotion please reach out to someone you feel safe with and/or a trusted professional. Sexual abuse is more common than we think and repressing our voices only feeds to keep these violent acts occurring. I love you.

  • Forgiveness and Trust
I start this episode with a poem I wrote on forgiveness. I reference “The Book of Forgiving” by Desmond Tutu and Mpho Tutu through out the episode. Forgiveness is not a weakness, it requires on undeniable amount of strength. When we forgive we can break free from the prison of our past. I also refer to Brenè Brown’s talk on trust and how she breaks it down to B.R.A.V.I.N.G. Trust is a complex topic, just like forgiveness, and a foundational element we need stability in within ourselves and our relationships. I hope this episode invites you to explore your own relationship with forgiveness and trust, to be courageous, and find a new level of your inner powerful, sacred being. Namaste 🙏

  • Accountability: With Ourselves & In Relationships
“As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health—food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is ‘LOVE OF ONESELF.’”- Charlie Chaplin. Hello everyone! 2020 is almost over, how are you walking into the new year? Have you been accountable with yourself? With your goals and commitments? How about how you treat yourself? What about your relationships? Is there accountability? What are you ready to leave behind this year and take into the new year? Lack of accountability within ourselves and in our relationships holds us back. It diminishes our radiance from within and minimizes our essence. So I want to invite you to be the most accountable you’ve ever been with yourself NOW! The world is changing and evolving at an escalating speed. Old and out-dated ways of being to cope no longer cut it! You are magnificent! Treasure who you are, you matter most ❤️

  • Birthday Year in Review—Pandemic Edition
“I was supposed to be born on Halloween. But arrived 8 days early. While I waited to make my debut from my mother’s womb. Did I realize what I had signed up for? Scorpios are all about transformation. And I have died and been reborn more times than I can count. So it looks like my soul had planned it out perfectly. Some birthdays were magical. My parents really went all out. Disney themed ones. Looking back from an outsider’s perspective. I was lucky. Looking back now. Where had those years gone. Memories have felt like past lives at this point. And each year has left their lessons. With some repeating if it wasn’t fully received. Adding a layer deeper and deeper. Till the scorpion transformed into an eagle and then the eagle burned and a Phoenix emerged from its ashes. Other birthdays were a little harder to get through. Familiar people no longer here. And circumstances reminding me that my childhood backyard where balloons, cake, face paint, and friends were some of the best birthdays I ever had.”-Me. Happy Scorpio Season Everyone! Got any plans for this upcoming pandemic Halloween? Life as we know it has been in huge transformation, which is what the Scorpion in the zodiac embodies. I talk this episode about the lessons I’ve learned and experiences I have had with the passing of another birthday. I’m sure we can agree that those of us who had a birthday during this pandemic didn’t expect to spend it as we have! Or that we would be presented with our current world circumstances. Careers, relationships, government, and global changes that have been cycling. How have you been adjusting? What has changed in your life? I touch on attachment styles and healing the nervous system, briefly. If you are interested to learn more, I highly recommend researching and learning more about your own attachment style. Certain ones effect our nervous systems greatly. Trauma work, healing, and mindfulness techniques are great tools to manage a dysregulated nervous system and can lead to creating more balanced relationships 🙏❤️ P.S. Excuse the noise from some excited little neighbors passing by midway through 😂 ... hey I’m a one-woman show here! Lol

  • Check-In Update: Attachment vs. Detachment
“what is stronger than the human heart which shatters over and over and still lives”- rupi kaur. Been on a bit of a hiatus with so much going on globally and personally, but wanted to check in. Where are you at this present moment? Are you attached to your current circumstances? Or do you see possibilities? Do you find it hard to detach and see a different perspective? 2020 has been a year of earth-shattering revelations across the horizon and within. Do you see yourself finding a way back to who you really are? Or are you being pulled under fear vs freedom and love?

  • Family Trauma
“I was born into a family with lineages of trauma transferred into my body. Manifesting into limitations that broke me until I saw the only way through was to heal. And confronting parts I thought I’d take to my death. To display for others to see. To examine it so deeply that any shame & self hate would be coated in warmness & understanding
And the harder it got, the more I had to expand my heart. That darkness and fear were just scattered pieces. Searching to be discovered, to be loved, to be accepted as a gift and not a curse.”-Me. If you are aware of any family trauma you have witnessed or experienced, do you see it playing out in your current life? Have you taken steps to break certain generational cycles? We came to this planet at a very unique time in history, and any idea of coincidence no longer exists (in my humble opinion). We are seeing a lot of deep seated beliefs, systems, dysfunction & dynamics being pulled and rooted up to the surface. Can you see where certain parts of ourselves have been kept in the darkness? Not from a place of blame, but from a place of survival? What we were born into.. what have you dismantled & what are you changing to create a better life? Does the dysfunction & trauma stop with you? If you want to see more of my poetry, insights & other transformational endeavors follow me on FB & IG @thepoeticmodernmystic. I’d love to connect with you more! Many blessings on your sacred journey 🙏❤️

  • Peace & Chaos
“Peace was not a familiar occupant. Chaos had taken most of the residence. Surviving, by repeating habits & patterns I had witnessed. My palace was tainted, needing maintenance
I got to a point where I was presented with a choice. Continue a series of toxic cycles, projecting into the future of results that did not look promising. Or to clean out what no longer was working. Purge what had been so deeply ingrained, to make room for the pieces to come back together. Fragmented, hiding, scattered coming back to be one whole again. Realizing in my being I am home, and in my being I am peace.”-Me. It’s been a couple months, but I’m back! Tune in this episode as I talk & reflect about our current nation with so many things being presented to the light. Which way do you sway? Are you for radical equality? Do you think it is all b*llshit & noise? Are you just as confused as the next person? And can you find peace in all the chaos? What does that look like to you? And if you’re single (like me) what is dating like in a pandemic? I get candid with my own experiences & crack some of my self-limiting beliefs.

  • Radical Self-Acceptance & Why It’s So Important NOW!
“Give me your hand so I can lift you up, not drag you down. Give me your hand so I can squeeze it gently with love and not hatred. Give me your hand so I can admire all its lines and textures without judgement. Give me your hand so I can listen attentively and be here with you now. Give me your hand so I can take your other hand and embrace you fully. Give me your hands so we can come together and live life peacefully.”-Me. George Floyd. The Corona Virus. Our stories. Self Acceptance. How does it all go together? The only thing that is NOT acceptable is thinking someone else’s life does not matter or is less than someone else’s. During these unprecedented times we must ban together & dive into our own healing & self-acceptance so we STOP projecting hate and violence through out the world. Now maybe most of us don’t resort to violence, but our unconscious choices have some effect in the magnitude of our current world. I reference the book “Chasing The Scream” by Johann Hari about the start on the war on drugs & how it has been misconstrued throughout decades of abuse & silencing of what is real. I highly recommend it if you want to get a grasp out the truth of addiction, the drug war, racism & corruption in our government. I also talk more on my core wound, the path to my own self-acceptance & an event that drastically shifted my journey.
