  • Episode 19 - Santa's Coming

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 19!  Today is an extra special, super serious, holiday-themed episode! Not really… today is my day to thank you for your support and tuning in each week. I’ll give a quick recap of what we’ve achieved this year on the podcast and my dreams for where we will explore together in 2022. Don’t worry though, there will still be Dad Jokes this week to cringe at and enjoy.

Next week, we will be sitting down with plant-based nutrition coach and host of the Win the Food Fight podcast, Michelle Vilseck, as we talk about nutrition for physical and mental health, how you may have been lied to your entire life about food, and how eating Vegan gives you super powers… no, seriously it can.

  • Episode 18 - MMORPGee, This is Fun!

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 18!  Today we sit down with author and blogger, N. Daniel, who just recently released a new book, Burn this City to the Ground, which chronicles his mental health recovery and development of a new friendship while living in Minneapolis during the riots over the murder of George Floyd. Don’t worry, this episode doesn’t stay too heavy as we then move on to discuss MMORPGs while taking a gut punch of nostalgia, and even talk about erotic roleplay in World of Warcraft… hey, if you know you know.

  • Episode 17 - Me and YouTube

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 17!  Today, we are going to be talking about starting your own YouTube channel as I sit down with Nathan Lockhart of the LockisLive Youtube channel and Expanded Thoughts Podcast.  As I mentioned in last week’s teaser, he is literally half of my age, but has been working with YouTube for the last 7 years! He is a well of online media knowledge and a very impressive content creator. I’d say take a drink every time I mention his follower numbers, but I want you to be able to remember today and stay safe.

Next week, we will be sitting down with author N.Daniel while we talk about his new book, Burn This City to the Ground. As he describes it, an “endearing platonic love story is the gooey center of a turbulent world set aflame. Through the laughter and the tears, Samantha and Daniel play off each other like a tragic comedy duo that's hell bent on finding humor within the most savage aspects of their everyday lives.” It chronicles the continued recovery from his own mental health journey in the backdrop of living in Minneapolis during the riots, and we talk about how online roleplaying games helped him, myself, and many others begin making connections again in recovery from trauma.

  • Episode 16 - Professional Wrestling and More!

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 16!  Today, we are going to be talking about professional wrestling and a myriad of topics as I sit down with Tom Morris  of the Laust Saucecast who seems to have a mission to try everything once if he can. We talk about his impressive resume on both a business and recreational level and how professional wrestling is not only well-received, but a whole lot tougher than it looks.

Next week, we will be sitting down with Nathan Lockhart of the LockisLive Youtube channel and Expanded Thoughts Podcast. He is literally half my age and at least 4 times better at this than I am. We’ll talk to him about how to start a YouTube channel and I try not to embarrass myself as we talk listener/follower numbers. There was a lot of wisdom packed into the interview and I am blessed to have been able to talk with him so make sure you come back next week.

  • Episode 15 - Fire-Spin to Win!

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 15!  Today, we are going to be talking about hula hooping, fire-spinning, and other flow arts. We talk with Courtney Bussard of the Journey to Limitless podcast about how she decided to take up the hoops, light them on fire, and find both fitness and fun in the flames. She recently received her certification for life coaching and now helps others find their joy and purpose in life and business.

Next week, we will be sitting down with Tom Morris of the Laust Saucecast – software developer, scuba diver, professional wrestler, sauce company owner (Laust Sauce), pilot, circus ringleader and performer, keyboardist… umm, there are like 14 other things I am probably forgetting, but let’s just say this guy has definite weird street cred. We talk about most of the things I mentioned, with a focus on professional wrestling, while I pander to him for free sauce.

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 14!  Today, we are going to be talking about cycling. We talk with friend of the pod Matt Satterfield about his experience going from inquisitive beginner to trained long distance cyclist and how this has led him down a path of self-acceptance and love.

Next week, we will be sitting down with Courtney Bussard, a certified life coach and host of the Journey To Limitless podcast who just so happens to hula hoop for fitness and mental health in her free time and sometimes sets it ALL ON FIRE!

  • Episode 13 - Honey, I Shrunk the Hobby

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 13!  Today I want to talk to you about miniatures. No, not Warhammer 40K… although technically that would apply here… anyways. Today, we talk with Nyree Whittaker of the Stolen Our Hearts Podcast… proud ferret mom, miniature artist, and podcaster. Visit her Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/stolenourhearts.

Next week, we will be sitting down with Matt Satterfield, friend of the pod and intense biker – think Wild Hogs, but way more Lycra and Spandex. He’s a traditional cyclist who has learned to be comfortable with his weird and found life much more enjoyable on the other side.

  • Episode 12 - It's Witchcraft

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 12!  Today I want to talk to you about witchcraft – no not the kind you see on a Netflix original series – real life witchcraft which, surprisingly, many of us may be doing without even knowing it. Today we talk with Paige Shelly of the Tales with Twins Podcast.

Next week, we will be sitting down with Nyree Whittaker, artist and podcaster who has a hobby that might be a tiny bit weird – she creates, trades, and sells dollhouse miniatures… did you catch the joke in there? We’ll discuss why she loves the hobby and encourages others to find their passion and a group of like-minded individuals.

  • Episode 11 - Fact or Fan Fiction?

    Show Notes:

Welcome back for Episode 11!  Today I want to talk to you about the art of fan fiction as we sit down with Todd Uebele, creator of the Coffee with Jesus podcast, and avid sci-fi and fantasy fan fiction writer. It’s legit, he’s on Goodreads! We talk about how he came to fan fiction writing and how it helps him process and progress his life.

Next week, we will be sitting down with Paige Shelly, creator of the Tales with Twins podcast, and you know, typical mom. Oh, did I mention that she is a practitioner of witchcraft? We’ll learn about her practice and how this is her favorite time of year! Make sure you come back for more spell-binding entertainment. See what I did there? Spell-bind – well you probably got it.

Welcome back for Episode 10!  Today I want to talk to you about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as we sit down with Nick Chernoff, co-founder of BJJ Pandas and co-creator of the BJJ Panda Journeys: Stories from the Mat podcast. We talk about the road that led him to BJJ and how this physical hobby helped him manage his mental health.

Next week, we get even more nerdy and weird as we sit down with Todd Uebele, creator of the Coffee with Jesus podcast, and discuss, you guessed it – writing fanfiction for video games… oh did you think… anyways. He’s been writing for over 20 years and has lived a storied life while using fanfiction to process his thoughts and emotions and get better.
