Tens of thousands of federal employees across the country have been laid off over the last two months. And some surveys suggest private employers have slowed hiring because of concerns over tariffs and the future of the overall economy.

Meanwhile, fewer employees are leaving their current jobs for new ones — a slowdown in turnover that’s been dubbed “the great stay.”
