The federal government isn't waiting for the results of a Pentagon review into the AUKUS pact, spruiking Australia's capacity to own, operate and maintain nuclear-powered submarines at navy bases in New South Wales and Western Australia.  

Yesterday the Prime Minister announced the first contractor to supply parts for US Virginia-class submarines.
