  • #34 – The Window of Time, Money & Health

The Trifecta in life is an abundance of Time, Money and Health.

For most of us the opportunity to have all three, in abundance at the same time, sits in a narrow window at retirement where hopefully Time, Money and Health converge.

Even then, this requires good management around the things we can control and a dose of luck around the things we can't.

Delta and Jay discuss what can expand this window to give us more time in the sweet spot of life. From early education, financial literacy and first jobs through to Investing, lifestyle villages and aged care.

Financial Planning is less about finances and more about living the life you want to live for as long as you can, whilst in good health without having top worry about money.

  • #32 – Retirement When My Business is My Super

Many Small Business owners or Farmers forgoe superannuation to invest time, energy and money into their business to fund their future retirement.

What's not well understood, commonly overlooked and poorly planned for, is that a number of tax and superannuation concessions exists for these individuals to reduce the amount of tax they may pay as they exit their business, sell their farm or change ownership in conjunction with retirement.

The small business retirement exemption (or Small Business CGT Relief) is a concession that can exempt capital gains on your company's business assets. It's one of four specific capital gains tax (CGT) small business concessions that govern the sale of assets; these exemptions recognise the fact that many small business owners use their company's assets to fund their retirement nest eggs.

Today Jay and Ben discuss the four concessions, their interaction with each other and the importance of planning ahead to take advantage of them and ensuring that your professional adviser work together to get the best outcome.

This is a complex area of advice and more than ever we would encourage small business owners and farmers to seek support around your own specific circumstances as rules and legislation change regularly.

  • #31 – Investing From First Time to Long Time

The last few years has seen an explosion of investment vehicles, choices, and options for the first time (and long-time) investor.

From Micro Investment apps, Exchanged Traded Funds (ETF's), Listed Investment Companies (LIC's) to more traditional Managed Funds, Shares and Property; there is an asset class and an investment platform for everyone.

Today's episode focuses on explaining the differences between investment classes and platforms, the natural progression from one to another over time and avoiding emotional investing in favour of goals based investing.

In this episode recorded on 5th November 2021 Jay and Ben discuss below article from the Sydney Morning Herald "Young People Becoming More Motivated to Invest".
