This was the first meditation I ever wrote and recorded. It's for getting yourself into a place of calm and groundedness before you walk into a networking event. Great for those who feel anxiety about meeting new people. You can use it before a party or any other event too.

This week I’m talking with Carol Banens about grief and the grieving process, setting healthy boundaries, and expanding your awareness of the present moment.
Carol is a reformed self-sacrificer who, after the death of her husband, made the decision to transition from being a physical therapist to being a transformational life coach for women over 50. She realized that she has a lot of life left to live, she’s not too old to find her joy again and that it IS possible to create an epic next chapter.
I’m grateful Carol not only agreed to share her story on this episode, she also volunteered to create a few meditations for the Fine is a 4-Letter Word community. Her first one published last week. It’s called Body Scan. Make sure you check that out and let me know what you like about it.
Carol's hype song is Bill Withers' Lovely Day. Listen to it here: https://youtu.be/bEeaS6fuUoA

My guest this week is Taylor Stilwell. In this episode, we’re talking about standing in your truth, even when it hurts or isn’t popular. She just finished writing her first book, called How to Kill Your Ex-Husband and Not Get Caught. It’s about surviving divorce, co-parenting with a jackass, and loving all of it. And that basically sums up the rest of our conversation. Listen for the details of how she did it, because they are pretty remarkable and there are a lot of lessons to apply here.
The book writing is Taylor’s side gig. By day she turns tedious corporate policies into comical, yet appropriate documents.
When not doing either of those two activities, Taylor is living the good life in San Francisco with her wife, Stephanie, while she waits for her son to become a successful chef and support her in a manner in which she has never been accustomed. She also spends her time looking for the perfect pancake at local cafes, arguing over toothpaste squeeze techniques with Stephanie, and surfing with her ex-husband (it looks like she didn't kill him after all!). She also says she’s on a one-woman mission to find the line between not enough and too much coffee.
Taylor’s hype song is Lose Yourself by Eminem. Listen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR1ECf4sEpw

You know how I share the key takeaways at the end of each episode? We’re in to Season 2 now and at the end of Season 1 a few weeks ago, I put together an overview show, as well as a PDF document of the key takeaways from the entire season. You can get that PDF of ALL the key takeaways for free by going to ZenRabbit.com/2021takeaways.
This meditation is focused on serenity. What do you think of when you hear the word serenity? Some people think of the Serenity prayer. Serenity comes with acceptance and taking things in stride. It's not resignation. It's Acceptance. Allowance. Serenity. Listen to this meditation to find a sense of peace, so you can move forward with clarity and strength.
My guest, Jenny Vaz, and I are talking about picking yourself up after you’ve been knocked down. And Jenny managed to bring herself back from a very dark place.
New years and new seasons are often the times people look to revise and improve on who they are. It’s easy to keep yourself busy with all kinds of distractions – your job, family, travel adventures – to give you the illusion of being fine. Eventually though, things will unravel, you’ll fall out of the boat and into a storm churned ocean, as Jenny says, and you’ll have to figure out how to survive and hopefully get to a point of thriving. Change is constant. How are you going to manage through it?
After 20 years of life in the I.T. fast lane, Jenny Vaz felt ready to run her own business as a career coach in Sydney. She fell headlong into a dark tunnel instead and stayed there for six months. Broke, broken-hearted and isolated, she battled her past traumas and own worst thoughts in that time.
Through that experience, she developed a mindset of "Just 1% Better" for each waking day. Since then, she has gone on to create a successful coaching business to help people to heal from their trauma & overcome their fears to run successful businesses and live the lives they signed up for.
Jenny is now on a mission to share what 1% Better a day looks like, starting with the most foundational: self-care. Self-care that doesn't cost you energy or money.
Jenny’s hype song is Diana Ross’ I’m Coming Out. Listen here: https://open.spotify.com/track/0ew27xRdxSexrWbODuLfeE?si=pXigZOxySLiN6pd-GPRUww&nd=1

It’s the last week of the year and coincidentally – yeah, I really didn’t plan it this way – the last episode of Season 1. Like last week, this is a solo episode and a short one. Because I simply want to share with you some of the upcoming changes you’ll hear in Season 2.

And if no one’s told you this week, I’m proud of you.
It's the end of the year and I thought it would be a great idea to look back at the past 34 episodes and kind of pull out some of the common themes and key points. I thought it was going to pull out three or four or five common points to share with you. And then I kept going through it. I'm like, whoa, whoa, wait, that one's really good. I can't forget that one. Oh, I gotta include this one. So here are a bunch of the highlights from this year in review.
If you have any comments about any of the information that was shared throughout the episodes, or anything that you'd like to see shared in future episodes, reach out to me reach out to me at Lori at Zen Rabbit dot com.
It would be awesome if you'd leave a review for this podcast. When you do that, it helps other people find it.
Lastly, as I was recording, it occurred to me that you might want to see ALL the key takeaways. So I created a PDF with all the key takeaways from all the episodes. You can download it at ZenRabbit.com/2021takeaways.
This meditation focuses on feeling physical sensations in your body. Noticing what you feel in different areas of your body, without judgement. Connecting with and observing. It includes a discreet exercise you can use outside of meditation for immediately calming and refocusing yourself whenever you’re feeling stressed.

My guest this week is Andi Overton. In this episode, we touch on the importance of eating cake, returning shopping carts and not honking the car horn as soon as the light turns green. We talk about how culture shock opens your eyes and the uncomfortableness of it forces you out of your bubble to see the world in a new way - and contribute to it in a bigger and better way.
Andi’s early career experience as a police officer had her thinking everyone was a dirtbag drug runner. But the intervention and persistence of her good friend Lynette helped her see she was on a dangerous path and gave her a lifeline out. We talk stress, personal responsibility and finding and maintaining healthfulness.
Andi Overton is a higher education professional who likes researching fun topics like virtual reality and the assessment of learning. It's the only way she can work video games into her Doctor of Education dissertation from Frostburg State University. A dedicated advocate for women's empowerment, she most enjoys calling out the bs against disenfranchised people of all walks of life and making friends with the new kid sitting alone. A lover of life, she has rescued many pups and kitties and with the help of her fiancé, Stacey, can now add "fish" to her list of rescues. Because why not; we all deserve a safe spot to call home.
Andi’s hype song is Closer To Fine--The Indigo Girls. Hear it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUgwM1Ky228
Connect with her on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andioverton/
