The neobank space has really heated up the last couple of years. The leaders are getting real traction with millions of customers now and the rapid growth showing no signs of slowing down. These fintech companies have really changed consumer expectations now and we are seeing banks react to these new dynamics.
Our next guest on the Fintech One-on-One podcast is Jason Wilk, the CEO and Co-Founder of Dave (Jason was last on the show back in 2019). Dave was the first neobank to offer real overdraft protection and have started a movement there that is being felt by banks large and small. But they are just getting started.

Alloy has been around since 2015 and they were starting to get real traction before the pandemic hit. Now, they have been on a growth tear as demand for identity verification has skyrocketed due to the pandemic.
The use of income and employment data in lending has become much more widespread in recent years. For any fintech-enabled lender, access to this data instantly via API is critical to their ability to provide a seamless borrower experience. And of course, they want coverage of as much of the working population as possible.

His official title is the Senior Vice-President of Verification Services at Equifax Workforce Solutions but basically, he is in charge of The Work Number (TWN). This is the most mature and widely used income and employment verification system out there, with coverage of more than 125 million workers.

We have a problem in this country. For the most part, money moves around slowly, at much the same speed as when we had a paper-based payments system decades ago. This makes no sense in today's world but we have a very complex system today that is going to take years, or more likely decades, to truly move to instant money movement.
