It's time for another Wine Cellar Edition of Fire and Wine Podcast, and your hosts are digging into the impressive history of Catherine the Great. It's a rowdy episode, full of discussions about Catherine's rise to power, her love for sexy times and some mild cannibalism. It's a coup and a hoot.

  • Little Women

This is one of our favorite stories, exploring the world created by author Louisa May Alcott. Barb gives a brief overview of this author's transcendentalist upbringing and her inspiration to write the novel "Little Women". We compare and contrast both Little Women movies directed by Gillian Armstrong (1994) and Greta Gerwig (2019). These movies follow the main protagonist Jo March and her three sisters (Meg, Beth and Amy) during the American Civil war era in Concord, Massachusetts. Wine, restricted corsets and the dreamy Christian Bale all play prevalent roles while we analyze our favorite movie(s)!

  • The Wine Cellar Edition: Marie Antoinette

Join us as we take you through the tumultuous, albeit, short life of Marie Antoinette.  We dive headfirst into her childhood in Austria and journey through the woods with her as she is stripped of her Austrian identity and is converted to the frivolous Queen we know today. Scandals? We have plenty. Did Marie Antoinette spark the French Revolution? Was it all really her fault? Did she eat cake? We definitely seek it out and invite you to give us your opinions of the young Queen once you hear our informative and witty debates about the late Queen of France. Heads will roll!

  • Game of Flubs Season 8

It took a long time, but we're here. It's a 2 hour episode and we have a lot to say so buckle down people. Get your sticky notes ready because we're here to give you our honest review of the last season of The Game of Thrones. We waited a long time because we knew that we needed time to heal and swallow a big bitter pill before releasing our opinions to the public. We love the cast and crew of GOT and thank them for the years of dedication and hard work towards the show. We have dedicated years of our lives to this show, and we really feel like we needed to give a honest and just review. Please understand that we left it a long episode on purpose because the show meant a lot to us and we wanted to convey our opinions clearly.

  • Rhaenys my Aenys Part 3

In this conclusion to the Targaryen history, we begin by discussing Aegon the IV (Aegon the Unworthy) who ruled from 172 AC-184AC and his betrayal to his family when he legitimized all his bastards on his death bed which would eventually plunge the Targaryen family into a civil war with the Blackfyres for over 80 years. Young Aegon V Targaryen dreamed of hatching dragons and we examine the events that lead to the tragedy of Summerhall, and the birth of the Dragon Prince Rhaegar. We bring all the Targaryen history to head when The Mad King Aerys takes the throne, and brings the Targaryen family reign to their bitter end when overthrown by the Usurper Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark. Thanks for listening to us drink, giggle and debate over 300 years of Targaryen History.
