Today’s Firearm Awareness message focuses on responsibility, judgment, and legal consequence. And I want to begin with a recent case that illustrates all three.

A father was convicted and jailed for giving his teenage son an AK‑47 as a gift. Not sold. Not borrowed. Not supervised. Given — as a present.

June may be the official month for firearm awareness, but responsibility doesn’t follow a calendar. It doesn’t begin on the first of June, and it doesn’t end on the thirtieth. Firearm awareness is a year‑round discipline — a habit, not a holiday.

A new scientific study shows that warm water from the deep ocean is creeping toward the base of Antarctica's ice shelves. The massive floating platforms that hold back the continent's glaciers. This isn't a surface warning. This is deep-ocean heat, the kind that moves slowly, silently, and with enormous long-term impact.
