The cold, hard fact is that life is hard sometimes. We encounter trials and loss and health struggles — even when we’ve encountered the seeking, saving, sanctifying, and sustaining grace God offers through Jesus. We wrestle with our human weakness daily. Is grace sufficient in our fragility?

As imperfect human beings, it’s not always easy to live the way we hope we will. To live in a way that reflects the character of God, to serve Him faithfully. It’s a tall order, and one we can’t meet on our own ... Are we expected to? How does grace sustain that ongoing journey of a life given in service to God?

We’re all aware, often painfully so, that nobody’s perfect — and we know it of ourselves most of all. We mess up and miss the mark. We fail others and ourselves; we make the selfish choice. It’s not who we want to be ... but hard as we try, we can’t — on our own — seem to get from here to there. That’s where sanctifying grace comes in ... Grace makes possible what we can only imagine.

Life, no matter where we’re at or have come from, can be unpredictable. At any given moment we might find ourselves navigating deep crisis or simply unexpectedly hungry to understand the deep things of life. Wherever we find ourselves, when grace arrives, it changes everything. Grace rescues us. Grace changes us.

The Christian faith is an invitation to take up stride behind the One whose life is so utterly compelling that we find ourselves caught up in the journey even before we recognize its significance. And the journey begins before we even know we’re on it ... Grace seeks us out even before we know we want to begin seeking it.

The willing sacrifice of the Passion of Jesus Christ, the Messiah ... The fulfillment on a Roman cross of centuries-old prophecies ... And yet, at the core of the Christian faith is not only the empty cross, but the empty tomb ... Understandably, it shocked His followers and His enemies alike; the impact was undeniable. What about today? What difference could it possibly make for you and me?

“Gone too soon”... We’ve all said it, wondered at the injustice, the mystery of a life ended far earlier than seems right or fair. Mourned the unfulfilled potential, the relationships left raw. If only we could change it ... What if a man on the brink of dying too soon could change the outcome? Could save his life with a word? What if he didn’t? Why on earth wouldn’t he?

There are times you know what’s ahead, what you need to do, but you have no idea how you can possibly do it ... How you can stay the course. You know you could detour, take another path ... But you know the easy choice isn’t the right one. What does it look like to keep taking the next step; to release what you really want now for the greater good later? Where does that choice come from?

What if you knew the world was coming to an end? What if you knew what to expect? What would you do to prepare? What if you could know exactly what to do to be ready for what’s to come? What if you could just know someone who could walk you through it, step by step?
