The Apostle Paul mentioned there was one thing he apprehended but continued with a two-fold description. He spoke about forgetting the past and reaching for the future. He spoke of these things as one because your reaching, the chase, can be hindered by the past.

A principle is found in Romans 15 about giving. Basically, the Gentiles had received spiritual things from the Jews and felt it their duty to minister unto them in natural things. Therefore, with pleasure the Gentiles gave to the Jews because they had received so much from them.

Jesus, who own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree. That body and sin was laid in a borrowed tomb. It was prepared with an abundant amount of myrrh and aloes -both sweet-smelling. Dead bodies stink. Many sins have been called an "abomination" -loathsome on account of the stench. Therefore, the pleasant aroma of the myrrh and aloes was placed with anticipation of the repulsive, revolting smell of death, which is the payment of sin. However, when the disciples entered the tomb, the dead body burdened with the pungency of putrefaction was gone and only the sweet aroma remained. Amazingly, Christ still removes the stench and the aroma remains.
