Now that the Apostle Paul has established the roles of the husband and wife, he addresses the role of parents and children. The role of children gives yet another display of grace and need for the gospel.

Ephesians 5:22-24 establishes the husband’s marital authority. Ephesians 5:25-33 describes how the husband’s headship is exercised in the same manner in which Christ exercises his headship over the church.

In this message, we tackle this hot-button issue first by looking at the all-encompassing command which Paul gives to Christian wives, followed by the all-important comparison in which Paul grounds this command – the comparison between the husband/wife and Christ/the church. We then deal with some of the all-too-common complaints which arise whenever the topic of female submission is raised, before finally looking at the all-satisfying conclusion of living according to God’s design.

In spite of several excuses, God reminds Moses that He is and will be with him because He is the Sovereign One who called him.

Romans 3:9-20 is Paul’s closing argument in which he establishes that all men everywhere, without exception, are guilty under God’s law and helpless to justify themselves. But in the gospel, God solves our two insurmountable problems.

Is there an advantage to being an ethnic Israelite? Paul’s answer is an emphatic yes… and no.

Membership in the true Israel is not a matter of ethnicity, nor of processing the law, nor of circumcision. It is a matter of the obedience of faith and the circumcision of the heart. Only the true Israel will inherit the promise of Abraham.
