It is such an interesting contrast in the church that 90% of the problems people come to us with are related to sex and money. In most cases, they stem from someone’s lack of self-control. And, oddly enough, the two areas of scriptural teaching most disregarded are the teachings around sex and money. Since we talked about sex last week, you guessed it, this week we will talk about money in general, and greed specifically. This weekend lead pastor David Beaty will guide us toward putting some guardrails in our lives in this touchy-touchy area of dealing with our money.

This weekend we will talk about the most needed and the most resisted area of all. If we got this are right we would transform our culture. There would be less poverty and fewer unwanted pregnancies. Thousands of children would be tucked into bed each night by their fathers and mothers, and there would be less domestic violence. Everybody knows what a guardrail is, but for the most part they are that invisible part of our driving experience. We’re glad they’re there when we need them, but we pay no attention to them. So how do they apply to our lives? For the next 5 weeks we will look at how a guardrail can become a personal standard of behavior that becomes a matter of conscience. The goal is the same as the guardrail on the road – to keep us out of the ditch.
