As a church, we were established for a purpose. And since the formation of this Christian Church in Union, many lives have been changed for the glory of God. But God isn’t finished with us yet!  There are still many more lives that need to be changed, more ministries that need to be created, and an abundance of servants that need to be sent out into the harvest fields.

Sunday, our message is going to focus on vision and seeing things clearly with God’s perspective in mind. As a church, we also have a vision for where we believe God is leading us.

This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series looking at the church, and more specifically, our church – who we are and what we are and how we fit into the grand scheme of things when it comes to the kingdom of God. We’ll begin by answering the question, “What is our mission?”

We are each individually created by God with our own unique traits, quirks, idiosyncrasies, and proclivities. None of us look exactly the same, act exactly the same, or talk exactly the same, yet, there are similarities we have with each other. So, who really is the “perfect specimen” in humanity?

We all like a “do-over” don’t we? One more swing of the bat, one more chance at the competition, one more opportunity to make that perfect landing. But not everything in life offers you a “mulligan.” Some things are classified as a “once in a lifetime” experience or opportunity.

Who is Jesus Christ? Where did He come from? The disciples wrestled with the answers to these questions, and in fact, all who come to Christ must wrestle with these questions. As we continue our series, “Childlike Faith”, we will look at who the Scriptures reveal Jesus Christ to be, where He came from, where and when His ministry took place, and what that all means to you and me today.

Sometimes kids ask some rather perplexing, and to be quite frank, hard questions. “What is heaven like?” “Why couldn’t God make us perfect?” And “How was God always there?” This is the topic we will address this Sunday. What does the Bible teach us about God’s eternal nature? And more importantly: why is it important?

Since the Garden of Eden, man has rebelled against God. To help free humanity from this inclination to sin and help each of us to lead our best lives, God handed down the Ten Commandments as a code of moral laws for us to live by.

The Ten Commandments are not a burdensome set of rules we should follow out of fear or guilt. Rather, the Commandments serve as signposts that point us to the straight and narrow path of righteousness while showing us our need for a Savior when we inevitably stray from that path.

The actual story of Christmas – the birth of our Lord – also involves a miracle, but this one happens on an unknown street in Nazareth some 2000 years ago. A young lady named Mary was told she was going to give birth to the Son of God. “So, what?” you might say…births happen all the time. But this was slightly different, seeing that Mary was a virgin. Let me ask you, do you really believe in the miracle of the virgin birth or do you think that part was just made up? Is the miracle of the incarnation literally true or is it a myth that we have pretended to believe for so long that it just seems real?

The promise of a Savior meant God would not leave us home alone.
