First Orlando - Horizon West Podcast

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Our guest preacher this morning, Korey Deck, pastors Living Springs Church in DeBary, and previously was the Online Campus pastor for First Baptist Orlando.

Pastor Korey selects verse 105 from the longest chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119 for our study this morning: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." In the context of the "decision fatigue" that is prevalent in our fast-moving, complicated society, this verse, as well as Paul's farewell in Ephesus recorded in Acts 20, is a life-saver. As Pastor Korey explains, God promises to give us enough light for our next steps in the difficulties and decisions we face. God chooses not to show us our entire path, instead leading us to grow in faith by trusting for each day's steps. Our steps will not always be easy, and we will encounter problems and resistance, but God will be with us always.

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Our guest preacher this morning, Marcio Nuncaironi, shares his personal story with Psalm 19. At a time in his life where he needed God's leadership, Psalm 19 guided him to hear from God through His creation, His Word, and His Spirit. Pastor Marcio teaches us this same guideline to improving our communication and relationship with God.

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Our guest preacher this morning is Stefen Gage from No Walls Church. His message is on Psalm 91, a psalm written by Moses as he and the descendants of Abraham entered the wilderness on the way to the Promised Land. Just like the Israelites, God offers us a secret place: available to all who seek, a place where we are invited to dwell, a place with divine benefits, and a place where God covers us when we face the battles in our life.

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today's worship service wraps up this week of Vacation Bible School. The theme of this VBS has been Live It Out, with each day having a particular emphasis in how we are to live as followers of Christ. Pastor Chris teaches us today that the early church, known as Followers of the Way, demonstrated remarkable devotion to God and radical generosity to all others, so that God's love was seen and experienced.

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! We find great wisdom in how to live today in the ancient words of Psalm 27. Pastor Chris explains this timelessness, saying "the Psalms show us the touch point between the mess of life and the majesty of God." In this psalm, David shows us what it means to be a "man after God's own heart." David placed his unwavering confidence in God, kept his focus on God, and expressed his worship of God in any location and any situation. Pastor Chris extends the invitation to us in our times of struggle to place our confidence in Jesus, who told us in John 16:22 to "take heart, because I have overcome the world."

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today's psalmist, who wrote Psalm 10, cried "why?" in an honest expression of pain and a sincere trust that God would answer. On this Father's Day Sunday, we recognize two strong temptations that men experience in our society as it relates to emotions: the "loose cannon" that inflicts emotional pain on others, and the "locked vault" that inflicts emotional pain on himself. Pastor Chris teaches us the invitation in this psalm, and across the collection of psalms, to a healthier, happier, and more godly way to manage our emotions.

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! We are studying Psalm 46 this morning and the events that led God's people to celebrate with this song of joy for how God rescued them from this crisis. Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! We continue our summer studies of the Psalms with Psalm 1 this morning. These ancient words about that sinful society resonate with us today, as does the guidance the psalmist gives us to grow roots, to meditate on God's Word, and to become a deeper version of ourselves.

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! We continue our summer studies this morning with a close look at Psalm 23, focusing on how this psalm reveals God to us and points us to the coming of Jesus. We see how the poet, David, describes God as a loving provider, a rest giver, a good leader, a generous friend, and a faithful presence in his life. In our lives, whether we are in green pastures or dark valleys, God wants to be all of that for us, too!

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today, we start a new series studying the Psalms to see how these ancient songs expand our understanding of God and point us to the future coming of Jesus. Today, Pastor Chris leads us in contemplating Psalm 8 and it's declaration of the majesty of God. The Psalmist wrote of our place in the world, and the eternal tension of how we are made in the image of God but we are not God. In the person of Jesus, fully God and fully human, we have the perfect resolution of that tension and our reconciliation with God.
