The United Unemployed Educators was expected to picket outside Parliament on Friday morning over the unemployment of teachers. This comes after Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga recently told Parliament that over 31 000 teacher posts remain vacant country wide. The top four provinces with massive vacant positions are KwaZulu- Natal, Eastern Cape, Limpopo and Western Cape. South African Rainbow Alliance, SARA leader, Colleen Makhubele, is calling for the dissolution of all metros in Gauteng and to hold new elections. The call comes amid an alleged leadership crisis in the Ekurhuleni municipality following the appointment of a newly elected multi-party mayoral committee. The African National Congress in Limpopo says it has welcomed over a 1000 Economic Freedom Fighters members who recently joined the ruling party. Former EFF provincial leader, Jossey Buthane, who recently joined the ANC, says their departure from the EFF stems from their discontent with the party's national leadership. Cosatu is calling on government to make an aggressive intervention amid job losses at the South African Post Office. Home Affairs Minister, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, says the White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration, and Refugee Protection will discourage economic immigrants from entering South Africa pretending to be asylum seekers once signed into law. Motsoaledi yesterday briefed the media on the final White Paper in Pretoria. Last week, cabinet approved the final paper.
