The Democratic Alliance, DA is heading to court If President Cyril Ramaphosa fails to publicize his cabinet ministers' performance assessments. The party will submit Promotion of Access to Information Act, PAIA applications to each of Ramaphosa's Ministries. Nearly half of South Africa's drinking water is unsafe. This was revealed when Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu released the Blue and No drop water report. The report has also revealed a regression or decline in the performance of many municipal drinking water systems since 2014. The ANC has until today to settle its outstanding R102 million owed to Ezulweni Investments or face liquidation. The party owes the KZN-based printing and marketing company over 100-million for election material supplied to it for its 2019 election campaign. The ANC has since approached the Constitutional Court to prevent the attachment of its assets at Luthuli House for the debt owed to Ezulweni Investments. Ezulweni attorney, Shafique Sarlie told our Senior Producer Ronald Phiri, that a liquidation application against the party would prove detrimental for the ANC ahead of next year's election

The Hawks have taken over the investigation into an incident where KwaZulu-Natal police seized cocaine worth more than a 150-million rand at the Durban Harbour. This is the third big drug bust in two months at the harbour. In October R150 million worth of cocaine was seized at the same harbour. Independent candidates will no longer need 15 000 signatures to contest next year's general elections. The Constitutional Court found the signature quota to contest elections unconstitutional, ruling 1 000 signatures were sufficient. But the Independent Candidates Association failed to convince the Apex court that the 200/200 split in the Electoral Amendment Act - which governs the threshold for seats in the National Assembly and provincial legislatures is unconstitutional. The Gauteng Liquor Traders Association is calling for the rejection of the Tobacco Bill. The Association says the Bill will cause great harm to small business in the township economy. The Bill proposes a total ban on the display of all tobacco products, a ban on vending machines and a ban on the sale of single cigarettes, or 'loose draws'. Community leaders in Diepsloot are calling for members of the community to work with police and not take the law into their own hands. The call comes after seven young men accused of criminal activities in the area were burnt to death over the weekend. The leaders say vigilantism needs to stop as it may affect innocent people.
