The United States has identified four individuals allegedly tied to the leader of an Islamic State cell in South Africa. The U.S Department of Treasury says it is targeting people linked to Farhad Hoomer, who they say led an ISIS cell in Durban, including some companies connected to them. Hoomer was among those arrested in 2018 for the Verulam mosque bombing, although the case was struck off in 2020.
