Parliament's Section 194 committee will today enter its second day of hearings on the fitness of now suspended Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, to hold office - with testimony from an expert witness. The DA in February 2020 filed a motion that Mkhwebane was incompetent, based on various negative court findings against her. Proceedings started yesterday, with Mkhwebane's legal representative, Dali Mpofu, arguing that Parliament's committee violated Mkhwebane's constitutional rights. He told the committee that his client was appearing before the committee under protest, that his client had been treated unfairly and had not even had time to prepare for the hearings.
