For our Arts and Culture feature this week we speak to world acclaimed and multiple award-winning South African photographer Zanele Muholi. Muholi is leading an exhibition tilted HER STORY at the Old Women's Jail in Constitution Hill tomorrow. The exhibition will showcase work by activists and artists articulating on the existence and resistance of Women's struggles with particular emphasis on the experiences of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) citizens of South Africa. Speaker of parliament Baleka Mbete has announced that voting on motion of no confidence will be by secret ballot. Mbete announced her decision on whether the motion on the vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma will be conducted openly or secretly a short while ago. Debate on the motion of no confidence is scheduled to take place on tomorrow. In June, the Constitutional Court ruled that Mbete had the right to decide how the vote would be conducted. The EFF and UDM had indicated that they would challenge Mbete's decision in court, if she announced that the vote would be conducted in the open. The family of the late Dullah Omar says they've asked the National Executive Committee of the ANC to remove his name from the ANC's 'Dullah Omar Region' in the Western Cape. In a statement, the family says the Dullah Omar name should not be associated with the planned march for the 8th August 2017 in support of President Jacob Zuma. South Africa must not bid for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, because we can't afford it. This is according to Unathi Sonwabile Henama; Tourism Lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology who writes in his personal capacity. This follows Minister of Sports and Recreation, Thulas Nxesi's confirmation that government will support the bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Henama says developing countries must stay clear of hosting mega events because such events are expensive to host, and accrue no long term benefit for developing countries. Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba says while the appointment of new CEO for SAA is a welcome step on the way to stabilizing the airline, it has to be accompanied by other measures. The treasury announced yesterday that Vodacom Group Executive Vuyani Jarana is to head up the troubled state owned airliner. Gigaba told parliament's Standing Committee on Finance that government is committed to helping SAA with re-capitalization, the airline will have to do its bit to ensure it returns to profitability.
