Welcome back First Timers! I’m so happy to be back with season 2!  We’re here and we’re kicking things off with a very important episode on breast health for breast cancer awareness month. 

I’m talking with Melissa Shiozaki , one of the APRN’s I see twice a year to stay on top of my breast health due to family history of breast cancer, about how to do a breast exam on yourself, what it’s like to get one by a professional, a bunch of things we can do to have good breast health and also disseminate fear.

It's been one year of my little podcast and I couldn't be prouder! Morgan is a graduate of the very hard to get into Juilliard School, has been in 5 Broadway productions in addition to many other shows, and is also a successful recording and touring artist. We talk about being bad at auditioning, how much you actually make on Broadway, and learning to not lose your mind over not being where you want to be by the time you think you’re supposed to be there. Oofff! That’s a word!

First timers, we’ve got a HITTER on today’s episode. I’m talking with musician, producer and songwriter Sam Barsh. Sam’s work has won 4 Grammy’s and been nominated about a dozen more times, he’s written and produced songs for Anderson Paak, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye and jazz greats like Gregory Porter, Snarky Puppy and one of my personal favorites Jane Moneheit-I mean, we’re barely touching his resume at this point.

Sam is ONE OF  KIND. I first saw him play waaaay back in NY and i was like “who is this BEAST?!” He is one of the most talented keyboardists I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to and I’m going to recommend right now that you go check out his music.

In today’s episode, Sam and I talk about his journey to winning a Grammy as a kid growing up outside of Chicago to becoming an in demand LA producer, how to be flexible with your goals and working through imposter syndrome.

Hello first timers! Today I’m talking with my awesome friend, author, poet and advocate, Lindsey Frazier, about her soon to be released memoir “Oh Love Come Close”. Lindsey’s story is authentic, beautiful, difficult, redemptive and like all of us, evolving.

Lindsey has had pieces published before, but this is her first book and I thought it would be interesting to sit down with her and talk about what the process of writing a book, specifically a book of non-fiction, is really like.

Today I'm talking with Linda Kay Klein who is the author of “Pure: Inside the Evangelical Movement that Shamed a Generation of Young Women and How I Broke free” . 

In addition to being an author, Linda is the founder and president of Break Free Together, a nonprofit storytelling organization dedicated to helping people release shame and claim their whole selves.

This one hits close to home, as a kid who was raised born again Christian during the height of the purity culture movement in the early 2000’s and who has been unraveling the damage, making revelations and healing ever since.

Linda brings so much insight, thoughtfulness and intelligence to such a heavy topic for so many of us and I think anyone who is currently trying to make sense of being exposed to purity culture at any point in their life, will find her words cathartic and validating.
