My guest this week is Cheryl Ilov.
Cheryl is a former physical therapist, a martial artist, a dancer, a best-selling author, and host of her own podcast, The FemiNinja Project.
Cheryl Ilov began her martial arts career in her late 40's after her acupuncturist suggested she consider it as a way to heal from the PTSD she acquired from a traumatic personal experience, as well as her chronic pain. Twenty years later, she is today a second-degree black belt in the Japanese martial art of Ninpo Tai Jutsu, and is pain free.
Cheryl's previous life as a physical therapist working within the conventional realms of modern western healthcare gives her unique insights into the limitations of modern medical science, and how it relates to functional health.
In this episode, we will discuss:
- Fitness for people over 50
- Being the only woman in an entire martial arts class
- Healing through the art of movement
- How Cheryl's family history inspired her
- The benefits of alternative medicine
- Overcoming your mental and physical barriers at any age
Listen. Learn. Enjoy!
