DAY 138: Psalms 26, 40, 58, 61–62, 64
Psalms 26, 40, 58, 61–62, and 64 reveal a chastened and weathered David learning to rest more deeply in God after betrayal, suffering, instability, and failure. Surrounded by corruption, injustice, slander, and hidden attacks, these psalms repeatedly contrast the fragility of human strength with the unshakable refuge of the Lord, teaching that mature faith is forged when dependence upon God becomes greater than dependence upon circumstances, reputation, or earthly security. They ultimately point to Christ, the perfectly righteous King who trusted the Father completely amid suffering and opposition, and who through His death and resurrection becomes the eternal refuge, righteous Judge, and unshakable rock for His people forever.
