  • The loss that perfectly summarizes the season so far

The Toronto Blue Jays dropped their third series in a row this weekend.

Kevin Gausman started things off with a win on Friday but the Blue Jays lost their bullpen day on Saturday and then they blew a 6-0 lead in the rubber match on Sunday in what was probably their most frustrating loss of the season.

We talked about what went wrong in Texas, from limp bats to the lazy errors in the outfield, and wondered whether anybody might be on the hot seat. We also looked for some positives from the series, such as Spencer Horwitz's successful big league debut.

After that, we looked around the American League East and ahead to Toronto's upcoming series with the Miami Marlins.

  • Alek Manoah heads to Dunedin, Blue Jays finally cut ties with Anthony Bass, and more

It's been a busy week in Blue Jays land.

Alek Manoah was able to record just one out in his series-opening start against the Houston Astros on Monday and he was subsequently demoted to the Florida Complex League to sort things out. But after that, Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt, and Jose Berrios led the Blue Jays to a huge series win over the defending World Series Champions.

We talked about Manoah's demotion and how the Blue Jays will navigate his absence. We also talked about the pitching the team got otherwise in the series and the clutch contributions they received from Bo Bichette, Brandon Balt, Alejandro Kirk, and Daulton Varsho.

After that, we talked about the Blue Jays finally opting to cut ties with Anthony Bass after the puzzling announcement that he would be involved in Pride Weekend festivities. Finally, we took a look at the American League East and ahead to this weekend's series with the Minnesota Twins.

We also talked about Vladdy having a rough stretch at the plate and how to navigate a possible injury to Kevin Kiermaier.

  • Bad times continue as the Blue Jays drop three of four at The Trop

At least we'll always have that 20-1 win, right?!

The Blue Jays continued their slide against American League East opponents this week as they rolled into Tampa Bay and dropped three of four against the Rays.

We talked about the variety of things that are going wrong for the Blue Jays right now, whether it's poor starting pitching, shaky defence behind said pitching, or an inability to cash in runs. We also took a look back at the team's off-season moves and how they look after a few months of play and whether there's merit to the idea that John Schneider is on the hot seat.

After that, we looked around the American League and ahead to Toronto's next series with the Central Division-leading Minnesota Twins.

  • The O's flipped the script and made the Blue Jays the Trash Birds

The Blue Jays' 11-game stretch against American League East teams has been a disaster.

After the Yankees came in and won three of four games in a drama-filled series, the Orioles rolled into Toronto and pulled off a three-game sweep with two of those wins coming in extra innings.

We talked about how the Orioles have taken a huge step forward from last season and whether their success will last through the dog days of summer. We also talked about what's going wrong with the Blue Jays during this stretch and whether it's just a cold streak or if these poor results against good teams are a legitimate reason for concern.

After that, we looked for reasons to be optimistic about the Blue Jays heading down to Tampa for four games with the best team in baseball.
