  • Dan Hardie (MyStrengths) on Empowering Every Teenager in Australia

🎙️ Welcome to our very first episode of Flourishing Unfiltered - THE podcast for high achievers who seek a professional life that feels as good as it looks and are tired of feeling like they’re the only ones struggling on their journey towards success.

In today's episode of Flourishing Unfiltered, we speak with Dan Hardie!

Dan is an adolescent counsellor and the founder of MyStrengths Australia. After 7 years as a teacher, Dan studied Counselling with a major in Positive Psychology. With 14 years’ experience in private practice, Dan has become one of the leading experts in strength-based therapy with adolescents. He has authored 4 books and developed one of the fastest growing wellbeing programs in Australia.

MyStrengths, the business Dan built, is a strength-based therapy program for adolescents in Australia. MyStrengths helps young people discover and nurture their unique strengths, building a foundation for growth and self-confidence. Dan started the program after realising that traditional counselling focused too much on deficits and problems.

The program has been successful in schools, with over 100,000 students participating to date. Dan's vision is to empower every teenager in Australia to discover their strengths. He emphasises the importance of focusing on what's right instead of what's wrong and finding a supportive community.

Dan shares his experience of navigating the early phases of his business and the challenges he faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. He talks about the importance of understanding that other successful business owners have gone through similar experiences and finding purpose in the positive difference he was making.

Dan also discusses the need to celebrate wins and not sweat the small stuff, as well as the importance of the partnership between home and school in supporting young people. He shares his advice for his past self, which includes staying positive and celebrating milestones.

Dan also talks about the future plans for MyStrengths, including developing parent training programs.
