Fellow Brain Damaged listener, Golgo Hakase of Japan created this podcast featuring an excellent recording from Floyd’s 1972 Japanese Tour at Nakanoshima Sports Center, Sapporo,  Hokkaido, Japan, 13 March, 1972.  So, I’m going to take the back seat on this part of the journey, besides I could use a little break.

The Silverdome, Pontiac, Michigan, 15. July, 1994.  This is perhaps the most historically significant engagement during Pink Floyd’s Division Bell Tour.  Not much else during the tour, in the grand scheme of things, could compare to the second night in Detroit when the audience was treated to a first entire performance of Dark Side Of The Moon since 1975.  We start out with a unique version of Saucerful Of Secrets recorded at the “Amsterdam Rock Circus” in Olympic Stadium, Amsterdam, Netherlands, 22. May, 1972.  It’s ALL doctored up for best possible sound.  Enjoy!

This podcast features the interests and work of Nick Mason. Most people wouldn’t know it but Nick Mason contributed more than just his drumming.  He’s done some of Floyd’s stage design and graphics.  He’s even done some vocals on occasion.  As for his interests, Nick is a pilot instructor and race car driver.  His love for cars even allowed him the chance to design VW’s limited edition Pink Floyd cars in 1994.  Rev up those engines… finally, its Nick’s turn.

Okay… this is a long one.  Ever since doing the last KAOS podcast (Show #91), I’ve wanted to feature a more complete, consistently better sounding gig from that tour. Recorded live at the Mecca Arena, Milwaukee, WI, 13. November, 1987.  “Doctored for supersound.”  So, roll one up and get back to radio!

On the 23rd of May 1968, Pink Floyd performed three shows in one evening.  One gig was just outside Amsterdam but the other two were at Paradiso.

The venue was once an old church and has high ceilings and a balcony overlooking the stage area.  Imagine how cool it must have been watching Floyd perform A Saucerful of Secrets with three large illuminated stained glass windows above the stage.

These two gigs took place within the first six months of Paradiso’s opening as a publicly-subsidized youth entertainment center.  It was also one of the first locations in which the use and sale of soft drugs was tolerated, so space out and enjoy.

The Complexity of staging The Wall live meant that Pink Floyd could not take it on the road, as they had done with live performances of their previous albums.  Instead, The Wall had to be set up days in advance at a select arena, performed for a series of shows, and then dismantled over the course of a couple of days.  As a result, The Wall was performed in only two venues in the United States, and two more in Europe, for a total of just 31 shows.*  This show is the third of six at Earls Court, 6th August, 1980.
