Holy Spirit. Does the Spirit work? 

What evidence should I expect to see of the Holy Spirit working in my life. Why the normal Christian life is filled with the Holy Spirit's work. I find that many Lutherans struggle to understand why we don't chase Holy Spirit experiences in the same way that other denominations do. I would like to present a positive message of how we see the Holy Spirit working in our lives as we see Christ more clearly and as we learn to turn from sin as a result of our faith in Christ. The same "rhythm of repentance and faith" the same beholding of Jesus Christ that began our christian walks are the things the progress us in our Christian walks. We don't find Christ when we're saved and then spend the rest of our christian lives chasing the Holy Spirit. I would make sure to present this as a positive message and not in disagreement with other denominations.

Hebrews 12 tells us that we are to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.  In a world that is constantly competing for our attention, what can we do to keep our eyes on Jesus?  This elective will explore the distractions that pull our eyes off Jesus, and will help you understand what it looks like when your eyes are on Jesus.

Joy is many times something people lack and long for. In this elective the leader will show where joy is not found and where it is found, ultimately in Jesus Christ. Furthermore, the leader will show that the joy Christians have in Jesus is a joy that doesn’t have to go away, even when difficult circumstances come our way.

In this elective the leader will show students how to, instead of cancel, converse with others. Ultimately driving others toward the truth of God and His Word.
