Flyover State of Fear

It is a TJ episode and if it wasn't enough, forcing the boys to watch one movie, TJ picked two. Luckily for everyone, TJ picked 1995's Tales from the Crypt Presents Demon Knight, directed by Ernest Dickerson, starring Billy Zane, William Sadler, and Jada Pinkett. Brenda Bakke, C. C. H. Pounder, Dick Miller, and Thomas Haden Church - and 1996's Tales from the Crypt Presents Bordello of Blood directed by Gilbert Adler and written by Adler and A. L. Katz; starring Dennis Miller, Erika Eleniak, Corey Feldman, and Angela Everhart. We also talked about favorite suspense sequences in a movie, TV shows turned movies(I think), and favorite movies titles!

Believe it or not, Brian and TJ sat down to do a FlyBy - not only that, they saw three movies starring one character; Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). They watched:  2016's Suicide Squad, based on the DC Comics supervillain team of the same name. Written and directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Scott Eastwood, Karen Fukuhara, Ike Barinholtz, and Cara Delevingne. Sadly they actually watched the extended version of this "movie."

They followed up with a movie that went through an identity crisis in 2020's Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), or Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey or simply Birds of Prey based on the DC Comics team, the Birds of Prey and serves as both a spin-off and sequel to Suicide Squad (2016). It was directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson, starring Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong, and Ewan McGregor.

And finally, they tackled the movie people on Twitter have been talking about for weeks (so why not add fuel to this fire); 2021's THE Suicide Squad, a standalone sequel to Suicide Squad (2016). Written and directed by James Gunn and stars an ensemble cast including Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Peter Capaldi.

Joe took us down memory lane with his pick of 1995's Disney classic, Heavyweights. Directed by Steven Brill and written by Brill with Judd Apatow - starring Ben Stiller (Jerry's son), Jerry Stiller (RIP), Kenan Thompson, Tom McGowan, and Paul Feig (along with a huge cast of character actors). We also talked about our favorite childhood movies that hold up to this day, childhood crushed and Jusef has a game he spent a lot of time crafting and designing for his friends. Enjoy!

Brian and Jusef had so much fun the last time around that they couldn't wait to come back with another FlyBy conversation! Once again pairing a modern classic with a classic - this time around centered around the Western Genre. The boys discuss 1969's Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, directed by George Roy Hill and written by William Goldman - the story of Wild West outlaws Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman), and his partner the "Sundance Kid" (Robert Redford).  A story that paired perfectly with one of our favorite movies of 2018 (and criminally underrated) - The Sisters Brothers is directed by Jacques Audiard from a screenplay he co-wrote with Thomas Bidegain starring John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix, as the brothers Sisters, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Riz Ahmed.

Brian is back as the host and he chose an episode centered around "The People's Champion" - "The Brahma Bull" - "The Great One" - "The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment" - "The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment" - that is right you jabronis, we are talking Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. More specifically 2018's Rampage directed by Brad Peyton, is "based" on the video game series of the same name. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Åkerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.  We also talked about our favorite movie monsters, favorite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson movies, we pitch "The Rock" vs Horror Icon movies, and we discuss Hollywood fake tough guys that have bought into their own hype. Drop the "People's Elbow" on the play button, if you know what's good for you.

Flyover State of Fear is back! With a fantastic guest in Sharai Bohannon from A Nightmare on Fierce Street. Hayes and starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, and Lili Taylor.

It's a TJ episode, buckle up because our favorite ginger picked a "movie" for us with a huge cult following (for some reason) - we watched 1984's The Toxic Avenger. A Troma Entertainment "classic." We also talked about our favorite Richard Donner movies (RIP), what movie characters we want to see in the MCU (non-superhero), summer blockbuster flops we love, and convoluted plots in movies we hate! What are you waiting for? Hit PLAY!
