Flyover State of Fear

FlyOver State of Fear is back with a vengeance and a fan favorite; Brian Hurst. As always Joe let his guest pick the horror movie they wanted to tackle and Brian picked what could easily become a modern horror classic; 2017's The Ritual directed by David Bruckner, written by Joe Barton, and starring Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali, Robert James-Collier, and Sam Troughton.

Jusef is back as the "host" and this time around he picked a good movie. No, really he did! We watched 1990's Total Recall directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rachel Ticotin, Sharon Stone, Ronny Cox, and Michael Ironside. An action-packed sci-fi classic that has aged perfectly thanks to its practical effects and stellar screenplay.

FlyOver State of Fear is back, and this time Joe has the first-ever "on set" guest - his buddy from the Shore, Evan Sciarrotta. Like before Joe let his guest pick the movie and Evan picked an all-time horror classic; the 1980's The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on Stephen King's 1977 novel of the same name and stars Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Scatman Crothers, and Danny Lloyd.  MATURE CONTENT... Joe has decided to stop recommending horror movies (he has his own show now) and picked a romcom he has never seen before. , We watched 1999's Never Been Kissed starring Drew Barrymore, Jessica Alba, David Arquette, Michael Vartan, Leelee Sobieski, Jeremy Jordan, Molly Shannon, Garry Marshall, John C. Reilly, and James Franco in his film debut. To his surprise (and ours), this movie scared him more than any horror movie to date. We also cover The Conjuring 3, discussed actors we are tired of, comedians taking on Oscar-winning roles, and "prestige" TV shows that should've been movies.   Timestamps: @4min mark The Conjuring 3 @12min mark Actors, we are tired of @29min mark comedians in Oscar-winning roles @40min mark prestige TV shows that should've been movies @52min mark Never Been Kissed

It's been a WHILE! Since Jusef and Brian got together for a FlyBy conversation, and just like the last time (Planet of the Apes film series) they picked two classics to cover. Pairing 1973''s American Graffiti directed by George Lucas and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Paul Le Mat, Harrison Ford, Charles Martin Smith, and Cindy Williams - with 1993's Dazed and Confused written and directed by Richard Linklater. The film features a large ensemble cast of actors who would later become stars, including Jason London, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Cole Hauser, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg, and Matthew McConaughey. Two nostalgic coming-of-age stories that encapsulate the decades they are set in.

It is the inaugural episode of Joe's new horror podcast and who better to crack the seal with than his fellow Cage enthusiast, Jusef. Joe will give his guest free-range in choosing the movie they want to tackle and Jusef picked  1995's noir-horror-thriller film directed by David Fincher and written by Andrew Kevin Walker. It stars Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, R. Lee Ermey, and John C. McGinley.

It is not a Brian lead episode without it being about a super obscure movie NOBODY knows it exists. In this case. We cover 1997's Suicide Kings directed by Peter O'Fallon and starring Christopher Walken, Denis Leary, Sean Patrick Flanery, Johnny Galecki, Jay Mohr, Jeremy Sisto, and Henry Thomas. We also talk about Marvel's Eternals, Timothée Chalamet as Wonka, Kevin Spacey is back, Best movie posters, movie plotholes that would ruin a movie, and Joe brings back his mother for a game!

It is another TJ episode, and true to his name, he made the FlyBois watch an almost forgotten 80's ""classic"" - 1985's Just One of the Boys starring Joyce Hyster, Clayton Rohner, Billy Jayne, Toni Hudson, and William Zabka. We also discuss the best comedies of the 21st Century thanks to the pretentious IndieWire list, and we pick the actors that have had the best acting streaks of all time. Come and join in on the fun! Jusef is back and this time around he rolled the dice with a movie he had never seen before; Joe Johnston's The Rocketeer (1991) starring Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, and Timothy Dalton. We also talk Mortal Combat viewership numbers on HBO Max, The Oscars, best superhero movies (pre-Blade), pre-internet movie disappointments, and Joe has a movie game for us! Joe loves horror movies (be on the lookout for his side project FlyOver State of Scares), but for now, we cover another devil centric horror movie; Ti West's The House of the Devil (2009) - starring Jocelin Donahue, Tom Noonan, Mary Woronov, and Greta Gerwig. We also cover the Disney Summer movie slate, underrated Disney movies, best period piece movies, and slow burns that are worth the wait.  "Flyover State Of Film Theme"-Composed by Barry J.
