1. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol vowed Thursday during a ceremony marking the 43rd anniversary of the Gwangju Democratization Movement to stand against any challenges to freedom and democracy.
2. South Korea and Japan failed to reach an agreement after the second round of talks held on Wednesday to discuss the details of the Fukushima wastewater inspection. South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said that it is the IAEA and Tokyo's job to inspect the wastewater onsite and that Seoul will check their inspection process.
3. According to the World Meteorological Organization on Wednesday, there is a 66% likelihood that the annual average near-surface global temperature between 2023 and 2027 will be more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for at least one year.
